Rated 5 out of 5 by Brilliant! They dont wear quickly at all so dont believe that! Simply brilliant though. Despite the large size, they roll really quick and have proven tough. Grip in the dry is excellent with little squirm and very predictable in corners. Drifting is predictable too. Not had any 'moments' that I didnt get away with. Had the same set on for 15 mths and starting to go a little now but will ryeplace with another pair. Performance compound isnt amazing in the wet but still ok. Cornering though...is another level and Ive found the same with the Magic and Muddy Marys. 16 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome front tyre for AM/FR/Enduro I've had the Trailstar 2.4 folding Tubeless on the front of my Yeti SB66 for a year now, and it's only just starting too get a little too loose for my liking. Has been all over Sydney's mountain dirt and sandstone trails which eats tyres, as well as Rotorua's carpet covered single trail paradise. Initial bite is excellent and holds the line where you are looking. Pays being ridden hard over the front and pushing the big knobs into the dirt. I'm 6'4, 105kg and like ouching pretty hard. It's never burped once on heavy landings (using Fox Float RLC 36 and Stans Arch). The 2.4 blows up bigger than most 2.4's so make sure you have enough clearance. Fairly light, considering the meat on the carcass, so not a massive penalty for grip you can really depend on. 05 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by great tyre wears a little quickly, price means frequent change doesn't cost the world. rolls well grips well. excellent all rounder! 11 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The Best Trail Tyre I have Ever used These tyres are great!, I have them on my Iron Horse MKIII trail bike and they are fantastic, Tubeless set-up is as per any other tyre, but out on the trail they are so predictable, I find they grip brilliantly but then progressivly let go, - they seem to give you a degree or two of lean where they just slip a little, telling you either to ease off, or foot out flat out drift it. After riding these I am a convert, sorry Maxxis - these are your competition now. Not yet had any issues with torn side walls or punctures, even in some pretty nasty terrain. 21 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by one of the better tyres for pea gravel this tyre is the one i have been using now for a while. From the workshop, its a effortless tubless tyre, can seal it with a few quick pumps from the floor pump. For the ride, im on my third hans dampf so thats saying that they are a good tyre, plenty of grip on the hard/hero dirt trails and a very controlled release/slide if things get sandy or pea gravelly half way through a turn. yes they are a little soft for the terrain here in Perth but the grip and size are well worth it. 08 April 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by the good and the not so good a good tyre for dirt grips well when cornering, not so good over wet rock found I was getting wheel spin when doing technical climbing over wet rock 03 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love it Bought my MTB with fitted with them and since 1 year 4 months average of 40 km per week and mostly off road...front tread is still ok and rear 50% less. Great grip , Pattern and ability. And are quite light. 31 March 2014

I know Maxxis and some other brands have certain models of tyre for the front and their treads/patterns are different for the rear - is this the same? Or is it a case of me buying two of these and they would perform equally as well on both? Thanks!

Answer:
No, not front and rear, but there are different compounds. I've been using the Trailstar on the front of my dualie for over a year and it's been awesome. I've been using a Nobby Nic or a Maxxis Ignitor on the rear, as I like to slide the rear a little, and reduce rolling resistance, as where I ride, I need to ride up hill too.
I'd suggest getting the trailstar for your front and a Nobby mic or racing ralph or similar for the rear. That way you will have great grip up front and lower rolling resistance for climbing etc.

Answer:
No, running these tyres front and rear would be fine; they grip so well that it doesn't matter if they are ran on both wheels.
