Schwalbe Magic Mary Evo MTB Tyre - SuperGravity

Even in its prototype stage, it collected World Cup and World Championship wins. The new Super Gravity technology makes it lighter, yet it is still extremely sidewall-stable and snake-bite resistant. At the same time, the flexible tread offers much better handling characteristics. The new profile is even more versatile and feels at home on any kind of Downhill trail.

  • No tubes. Schwalbe Tubeless Ready tires make it possible. With three advantages – weight, puncture protection and low rolling resistance. What you will need:
    • Tubeless wheel
    • 60 ml Doc Blue Professional
    • Schwalbe Tubeless Ready tire with special bead shape
    • And a modicum of patience and experience in fitting
    • Of course the tires can be used quite normally with a tube.

    • Super Gravity has a new carcass construction at its core. The principle is a familiar one in motorbike tires. We have taken the best features and developed them further for the MTB. For SUPER GRAVITY the sidewalls are made up of four layers of carcass material, but there are only two layers underneath the cap*.
    • The next trick: The whole tire (not just the sidewalls) is encased in SnakeSkin fabric. Weight is negligible – and it helps a lot. In fact, it stabilizes and protects while remaining extremely flexible. At the same time it is ideal for Tubeless Ready application.
    • So Super Gravity means: The tire walls are more robust. The cap is more flexible. The tire is lighter. Or in a single sentence: Downhill ruggedness at Enduro weight.
    • Super Gravity weighed up: When combined with Tubeless Ready riders save an impressive 700 grams in weight in comparison with a conventional downhill tire. Not just somewhere on the frame, but on the rotating mass!

*The classic downhill tire construction has six layers under the cap. This adds unnecessary weight and unfortunately also makes the cap rigid and hard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by What a beast! This tyre is amazing! Super stiff sidewalls so no pinch punctures there! You will get grip everywhere and anyway. But make sure you get the suitable compound for weather the tyre is going on the front or rear 10 October 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Mary, Mary, quite contrary... Used for 2 weeks on the roughest trails the alps could offer (No, not Morzine, Morzine's for girls). Only lost the front end once on wet roots, there is no tyre in the known universe which can grip on wet roots. From wet mud to dry hard pack rocks and roots, this tyre can take it all. Watch the pressures, you really need to use a pressure gauge as just giving the 'squeeze' feels like an orange test gives a false pressure due to the stiffer side walls. ran them at about 25psi but felt like there was about 50psi in them! Couple this with a Hans Dampf on your back end for a combo like no other. Great compound feel soft but don't wear easily. They are on the heavy side, and they are absolutely massive in 2.35 but you ain't going to be doing much uphill if you're fitting these. Tubeless is pretty easy, fill with milk and inflate and they'll stay at pressure for yonks. They also hold up well, I noticed a lot of 'knobble' tearing with the Dampf, but after 2 weeks of thrashing rocks, the knobbles are all still intact. 29 September 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best choice ever. Been riding Muddy Mary for two years, decided to try a Magic Mary Vertstar for front. It is a big difference, good braking and cornering. Big improvement over rock faces riding. Wort the price, my son want is own set now to replace is DHF, DHR. 02 September 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 Amazing tyres I bought this tyre for my downhill bike, I bought them specifically for a week riding in france. It was extremely wet conditions and these tyres never missed a bit. Gripped in every situation, in wet and dry. Very confidence inspiring! Pricey but worth every penny. 21 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Super Sticky and grippy tire which provides superb control. I've been running the Magic Mary's on my DH bike and they are really an excellent cornering tyre and provides loads of grip in both dusty tracks as well as rock gardens and roots. The price is a bit high, but its well worth the cash, very confidence inspiring tyres, wet or dry. 16 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Pricy, but grippy, and great braking I tend to ride my Dirty Dans for as much of the year as I can but there comes a time when it's simply time for something less aggressive, and ultimately more grippy out back for drier conditions. The MM doesn't have the edge grip at severe lean angles that the DD has- nothing comes close, but it's a really solid performer. Braking control is excellent, the solid tread hooks up well and slows you down like dropping an anchor. Uphill it pushes well and keeps traction even in loose conditions. It's a sure fire winner as a rear tyre, I'm not sure how it will feel up front I'm kind of wedded to my H.Rii upfront in 3C compound. If you're an animal with the rear brake consider the harder compound from the performance line, you know how long Schwalbes last. Overall a great rear tyre, supple, quick to accelerate, grippy on climbs and progressive as it breaks away under braking. It ever clears well in damp conditions. 14 March 2014
