Schwalbe Marathon GreenGuard Bike Tyre

The original. The archetypal high quality touring tire. Now completely revised:

GreenGuard. The highly elastic, India rubber layer is 3 mm thick. Other manufacturers call such a tire “Plus”. However, Green is not just the colour, but also the philosophy: One third of the GreenGuard is made up of recycled latex products.

"Anti-Aging". The completely new sidewall construction can withstand for much longer the typical cracking resulting from overloading due to insufficient inflation pressure. Also the new Endurance Compound substantially increases durability.

E-Bike Ready. The new Marathon has been designed for use on all types of E-bikes. The following sizes bear the ECE75 mark, suitable for use on faster, up to 50 kph, E-bikes.

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by 27 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by A great do-it-all tyre. Used a pair of 700x25c Marathon tyres on my road bike to cycle 6500 km across Europe (Russia-Portugal) in 45 days. These tyres are strong and dependable. Did I get punctures? Yes, but these were caused by metal splinters on the road that embedded themselves in the tyres and were so strong that I broke a knife trying to remove them. Are they grippy? Yes. I've descended hills at 70 km/h when it's been raining. Are they durable? Yes, although the tread-profile has been flattened due to under-inflation of the tyre. These are great long-distance, endurance tyres. Heavier that comparable road tyres, but that is the sacrifice that has to be paid for guaranteed performance. 18 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Say goodbye to punctures I have these tyres on my daughter's commuter. She rides on some nasty roads and had almost weekly punctures with previous tyres. Since fitting these we have had 3 months trouble free. They roll and grip pretty well too. Only down side is they are heavy - definitely not race tyres! 13 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Solid performer Put 700 x 25C size tires onto my road bike in order to use the bike during spring time in Helsinki where cycleways are full of sand, and punctures with normal road bike tires where inevitable. And these tires do the trick. Don't need to worry about getting punctures, since they have proven out to be solid performers. 06 March 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Solid Performer Running the 32C at 90 PSI for a 21km each way commute with Pannier rack and 1 bag along roads and bike track that often contains a little debris, broken glass and havent punctured in 2 months of 3-4 trips per week. Very grippy when you turn in using the off-centre tread. If you commute and want good rolling preformance - this could work for you. Certainly does for me. Only went to rating as 4 overall as a more continuous solid rolling line would be my preference, but these still roll great. Value 5 as I got them on a great sale price. 08 December 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by reliable rubber I use these as my primary winter tires on a robust winter roadbike. Had a pair of Schwalbe Cruisers before and they lasted quite a bit. However, the Marathons takes more pressure and roll very well. I run them at 100 psi with slim tour tubes inside. When the snow and ice arrives I also have a pair of Winter Marathons with spikes to switch to. 20 November 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great tyre Purchased these tyres, in 700c 32 for my trek hybrid, seem quite fast rolling, some reviews say they are hard to fit, mine went straight on without the need for levers, running them at 95 psi. 30 April 2012

Answer:
Speaking from experience, the 700x25c tyre will be compatible with your wheels, and the frame should have enough clearance for the tyres - 25c might cause a problem with TT/Tri frames, but not road frames.

The tyre will 'balloon' on the rim, so will be a bit of a squeeze getting it past the brake pads when fully inflated.

Answer:
Yes they should. The CAAD10 frame would allow for a tire clearance up to at least a 25c. You're rims should be good to go as well. The only time you should worry about rim width is when you're going into some extreme's. A race rim might not be able to mount a tire thats 35c+. The tire bead will be far too wide.

I'm after a set of tyres for commuting on my 29er MTB, do you know if the 35 width will fit a standard size xc 29er rim?

Answer:
29er mtb and 700c road wheels are the exact same diameter. What needs to be considered is the width of the tyre. The 35mm may be a little too narrow for an mtb rim. This will need to be checked with the rim manufacture before a purchase.

A 47mm width may be a better option for your self.

Answer:
700C is exactly the same diameter as 29er rims, should be no problem. the reverse (29er MTB tyres on road wheels) is also possible. Only issue is the width - I have put 23 mm road tyres on 29er rims but it is getting a bit silly. 35 mm will be fine.

Suitable for off road?

My commute includes a bit of off road (gravel/dirt tracks, nothing major) would this be suitable for that or is it more of a road tyre?

Answer:
This is an off road tyre in the sense that it is intended for use on gravel tracks and walking paths around lakes/aside canals etc.

It is however primarily designed for use on a consistent surface mainly aimed at stable road cycling.
