Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 31 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Grippy but not worth the ££ I have been biking for over 15 years and never damaged a side wall or rim due to a pinch flat. Riding the xc trail at Forest of Dean I pinch flatted on the berm section at the end of the run damaging my rim and cutting a slice along the bead edge of the tyre. The side walls are too weak. I was using 35 psi in on a stans flow ex running tubles which resulted man paste flying everywere all over me and my bike. your supposed to be able to run tubles a lot softer than what I was using and am gutted that I have dented my rim and have a tyre that costs 45 that I cant use as intended any more. I will say that the tyre had not burped or unseated just a nasty slice where the harsh dent was in the rim along the bead edge. If you value your rims Don't buy these! 22 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent front tyre option, good rear tyre option My Giant Trance X1 29er 2013 came with these tyres on front and rear. The rear lasted about 1000km before I needed to replace it as it was quite bald. The majoirty of my riding is on dry, hard, rocky surfaces so this tyre did well to withstand those conditions. Having said that I have now gone to a rocket ron for rear as I understand it is a harder compound so should give me more kms. As a front tyre it is excellent. Plenty of grip and has never let go on me in a corner. In short I recommend nobby nic on front and rocket ron on rear 22 May 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good XC tyre Have ad these tyres on my bike for over a year now..have found awesome in the dry or when the track is a bit tacky, the also have lasted very well...One downfall is they are horrible for cornering....and in the wet are very slippery....would recommend if you did commuting or very light all mountain/downhill track.....Nothing wet.....(or u will probably come off) 22 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by 21 May 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very pleased I rode at Afan Forest the weekend, I was pleasantly suprised to find no cuts in the tyre, Afan, if you dont know is rough and rocky, tough on tyres. A couple of days before at Halden, wet roots wernet a real problem. I run them tubeless. Love em! 19 May 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Durable and light Good tyre... Sour able side walls, light and good volume but grip is average. So if you want a really grippy tyre look else where. I use this for XC races where I'm less concerned about grip and more concerned about low rolling resistance. 27 January 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Tyre all well and good, except for packaging parcels. worthless .... 24 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fast & Grippy SETUP: I've been running the 2.4x29" Nobby Nic Evo Snakeskin on the front of my Giant XTC 2 hardtail for over 6 months (wth inner tube). I bought this tire as a replacement for the OEM Racing Ralph Evo that came with the bike. I still have the other Racing Ralph 2.25" on the rear. VALUE: Not the cheapest out there but I paid A$57.93, so pretty happy with that deal from CR. The quality is well worth the money. GRIP: From the first ride with the Nobby Nic, I noticed a massive increase in front end grip. I can't emphasize how much better the bike handles. I have real confidence that the front will bite as I initate a turn, and it takes a real effort to get it to break loose. I'm in Melbourne, AUS, and mostly ride on dry single track - a combination of jaggy small rocks, loose gravel and hardpack. (and of course on-road). I can't vouch so much for wet, slippery surfaces or very sandy conditions, but could not be happier when negotiating tight turns on loose rocky single track. SPEED: It's certainly slower than the Ralph, especially on-road, but the increase in grip is a net gain in downhill situations. The combination with the narrower (2.25) Racing Ralph on the back seems to be a good one too. The tail breaks earlier than the front in the loose stuff and comes around in a nice controllable way. DURABILITY: I've run this tire for 6 months at around 25-30psi without any issues. No flats, no sidewall damage. This rider & bike clock in close to 110kg, and hit plenty of rocks too. CONCLUSION: The Nobby Nic Evo Snakesin makes for an excellent front tire, and has transformed the handling of my bike and increased my confidence on a variety of surfaces. I'm really happy with this setup and will probably do the same thing again next time. 14 October 2013

Answer:
Evo is the whole tyre compound, but the SnakeSkin models have a thicker, protected, sidewall. My understanding is that the top and tread are the same. So Snakeskin is an additional feature on top of the Evo.

My experience was that the Snakeskin is slower and stiffer but very robust. I have done 45 hours on the South Downs with no punctures. There are 20 cuts on my Nobby Nic and 45 on the Racing Ralph which have all leaked Stans but the sidewall is intact and the tyres hold air.

Answer:
Yep you need to order two. I normally ride in dry, hard (rocky) trails and would recommend pairing this on the front with a rocket ron on the rear

Answer:
Tubeless Ready does not include the UST Reinforced Sidewalls but does have a high enough Thread Per Inch (TPI) to be ran as part of a Tubeless Setup.

The lack of UST sidewalls can sometimes be a problem if you run the tyre at low pressures as there is less sidewall support to the keep the tyre upright.

The Tubeless tyre below has the UST technology.
