Perfect winter tire. The spikes are not on the tread center, but arranged on the sides in the area of greatest contact pressure. When properly inflated the tire can also be used under normal, ice and snow-free, road conditions. By lowering the air pressure the tire gains optimum grip on icy roads.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Отличные покрышки для езды на работу и неспешных велопрогулок зимой. Стоят на обоих колесах, шипы кое-где выпали, но все равно погоды они на этой резине не делают. Главное - мягкая незамерзающая резина. 23 February 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by VERY loose fit These tyre are very loose fitting. Afer VERY carefully seating on a Bontrager rims they have stayed put. However a pair mounted to Alex rims have repeatedly blown off. I have been in the bike business over 30 years and have mounted thousands upon thousands of tyres - have seen some loosish tyres in my day but none like this. If they stay on your rims they offer GREAT traction. 06 January 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by 20 March 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good tire, but not great I bought this tire for winter roads that are predominately wet to avoid the nasty accident when you hit unseen ice and the bike disappears from underneath you. And this is exactly what they do best, if you hit ice, you can either recover or go down controlled, and not be a pelvis breaking wallop. The studs around the edge of the tire really help grab icy roads. The other hazard I have during winter months, especially in the fall, is leaves on tarmac, I believe the tread and combination of studs also really help avoids falling. If you are facing more snowy, icy rutted city roads this tire is good, but it's not good enough. I feel it doesn't have enough spikes. Even at 20PSI, I could get good traction on ice, but the tires ability to climb over ice ruts wasn't there. After a few good falls, though not bad, I had to quit and walk home. I'm going to try the marathon winter studded tire next year, as I expect this tire to perform better as it has more studs near the centre of the tire As a side-note: I put these tires on my bike near the begging of October and remove them in the spring. The carbide studs look like they will outlast the tire, no need to swap the tires on for only snowy/icy days. Just fit and forget about icy road worries! This is the third winter I have had them on my bike and I commute 3 days a week about 12Kms each way. 07 February 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Typical road tire 26 December 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for winter commuting Rode with these last winter and will definitely use them this winter again. Follow the instructions and ride them gently at first, to allow the studs to set. After four months of daily usage I've lost one of the studs on one tyre and there is no real visible wear on the studs - they seem to hold up well. Studded tyres are great in the winter - they allow you to ride carefully when there is ice. When you ride on ice there is some grip (but not a lot!), and it feels stable, compared to the "certain and sudden wipeout" on regular tyres. Be sure to ride them with low pressure when there is ice. The studs need to bite into the road when you ride - the tyres make a distinctive sound when this happens. You can ride them with higher pressure on days when there is no ice, for better rolling resistance. 15 October 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent winter tyre First outing in the snow and ice with a pair of these this week - great grip and no issues, really confidence inspiring - don't know why I didn't get some years ago. I'll probably leave them on until the spring - if you keep the pressure high then they sound fairly normal on the road (just the slightly odd sound of Rice Krispies being crushed). They are a bit on the hefty side but that does seem to help plough through ridges in the snow. 06 February 2010
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good compromise tyre I bought one of these last winter and used it for about 4 months (had it on the front). It kept me from crashing on the icey roads and even helped when it snowed. Rolled well on the road when fully inflated (do this when its dry and not icey). A bit heavy when compared to your average MTB tyre. No problems regarding wear and I only lost one stud 18 October 2009
