Rated 4 out of 5 by Very good!! This seat, although the price is very good. I use it on my road bike and since then never again felt any pain. 19 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by 24 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Outstanding As previous reviewer has mentioned, if you do not suffer from 'numb nuts' you may not benefit from these. I can only comment from personal experience. I no longer have soreness after long rides, no numbness, and no painful feeling when I get back on the bike. There is more to these saddles than just the gap. The saddle is nearly "S" shaped so your pelvic bones are elevated to give your softer tissues room to circulate. Highly recommended to those who are suffering. I have not found the issues with the stiched writing wearing our my shorts, my shorts are stationary there, the movement of my shorts is over the snout of the saddle. 06 February 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Give it 5 stars for not causing numb nuts, but 3 stars for comfort as this is not a comfortable saddle to sit on. Used it 7 months on my mtb, but still can't get used to it. For me the 2 seat pads should be flatter as the ridges along the cutout are too steep and cause hotspots. And the embroidered lettering is not good for your expensive lycra pants. 21 January 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great saddle, but one annoying point Finally found a saddle that prevents the NNS as mention above. Having previously 'invested'in other expensive saddles and been disappointed, I initially bought the hybrid as a trial, and being pleased with that bought the Evolution model. The only annoying point is all the embroidered lettering. It wears your shorts out. On this point, the Assos website advises you to 'avoid embroidered saddles.' (I have e-mailed the SMP UK importers about this, who happen to agree with me!) Why such a distinctive design should require all this labelling is a bit of a puzzle, and the extra friction isn't welcome either! 12 January 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Firm, but an awesome saddle. Brilliant design 19 April 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Expensive and worth every penny. If you do not suffer from the dreaded numb nuts syndrome (NNS) don't bother with these seats. They will not help you at all and seem to be the reason why people give them negative reviews. If you do suffer they are worth every penny. On a normal seat I have trouble after 10-15mins. The main trouble not being the nethers but a weakening in the legs which feels like your riding in a headwind after 4 hours in the saddle. A WTB V seat gives me about 20-30mins, and a Specialized Alias about 50-60mins before trouble hits. I have only had this seat a few months but any ride of upto 6 hours hasn't seen the dreaded NNS return. Although the gaping hole at the front of the seat can lead to a very cold seat area on breezy days. The lack of padding doesn't bother me and the smp options are all the same seat with varying amounts of padding (just check out sellesmp.com for seat diagrams). The Evolution is more than enough for 5-6 hours of riding, and it will take a few rides to get used to the 'new' seating areas. So in summary if you suffer from NNS this is the seat you have been waiting for, and if you don't, save your money for something else. Also it may not be of any use on a MTB as you spend a large amount of riding time out of the seat. I only run it on a racer as the WTB V gives me good performance on any 4+hour MTB stint. Hope this review helps. 15 April 2009
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good seat but allow 3 months to break it in. Have been using this seat for about 8 months now and am pleased with it but it took about 3 months before I had worn the seat in and it had worn my seat in. The seat keeps pressure off the gibblets as claimed but I found it needs to be tilted forward a little and the adjustment is quite fine between being tilted too far forward and too flat. For the first month I thought I had made a big mistake buying this seat but persevered with it and am now qjuite happy. 23 January 2009
