Rated 5 out of 5 by Why spend more? Why spend more? 105 is perfect. No noticible difference in performance to Ultegra 13 September 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Smooth Changes Brought this as a replacement to a SRAM and the gear change is even smoother now 24 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Top quality, great value You can't go wrong with this 105 cassette. Strong and reliable, 12-25T is my choose. 11 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Light and precise I use it on my shimano RS31 rear wheel and it shift's very well and fast. Worth buying for this quality and a very good price. 04 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quality and effective All you need, a small weight increase over Ultegra but works as well, and half the price to boot! 26 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Value and Quality I bought the 11-28 to replace the 11-25 I had and very happy with it. I like the ratios as I have the 11-28 Tiagra on a spare wheel and the ratios are not as smooth. Excellent stuff from Shimano as always. 14 July 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by good value for money Good product that performs well. Good compromise between price and performance. 07 July 2014

Answer:
You should be good with this. To get a definative answer you should look at your rear derailleur. This is what determines what cassette sizes you can run. If you have a 105 or similar you are ok...there isn't much difference between this and a 12-30.

Answer:
You should be fine to replace your 12-30 cassette with an 11-28 alternative; you will likely need to readjust your rear derailleur hi and lo adjust points as per the manufacturers instruction.

Will other parts need to be changed?

I currently have a Tiagra 11-25 cassette and chain on a new Vitus Dark Plasma, and am looking to change to 11-28 for longer hilly rides. Will I need to change the chain as well, which only has a few miles on it?

Answer:
When changing cassette it is generally advised to also change the chain; however if the chain only quite literally has a 'few miles' (less than 100) then it should be fine.

Nothing else should need changed as the derailleur can handle this small step in tooth capacity.

Answer:
I have just purchased the 5701 chain, 5700 cassette and the 5750 Chainset and they all work fine together. It will also work with the 5700 chain set as I had the 5701 chain paired with the 5700 chainset before replacing all of the components. The bike shop did recommend also replacing the cassette when replacing the chain due to wear and tear so you might want to consider this

Answer:
If the entire groupset is being upgraded to 10-speed then this cassette would be fine; however running this cassette within an 8-speed groupset would not be compatible.
