Rated 5 out of 5 by Typical Shimano Quality What a lovely quiet running chain. This chain has been whisper quiet since it was installed, It has handled the last 1000klm with ease and no stretch yet... I am impressed. I have climbed Mt Mee in Queensland with this chain and put some power through it with irregular pedalling as well. It has been strong and certainly inspires confidence to purchase again. The Dura Ace chain I have on the race bike stretched a lot quicker than this one, But the D'Ace chain is lighter and aimed at the racing fraternity, which obviously is where it is used for me. For an all-round brilliant chain, with strength and durability, don't look any further than the 105 5701. Happy riding Matt 27 February 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by 14 February 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by 22 January 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Wear quickly A functional chain which lasts on a summer bike. However put one on your winter bike and you will have to keep an eye on the wear rate, as it is soon worn to 0.5%. I normally only get around 800 miles before it is at 0.75% wear, and then I replace it to save the cassette. It seems that the slotted side plates let more muck into the working parts of the chain, even with mudguards and mudflaps. The 5600 chains lasted longer, but are now more expensive so are not so cost effective. 21 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by High Quality Chain High quality Shimano Chain. Strong, durable and lightweight. Shifts brilliantly on Shimano Hyperglide cassettes. Just a little tip. Use a KMC Connector to join the chain instead of the Shimano chain pin that is provided with this chain. It will make things a lot easier to take the chain of to degrease it and put it back on again for regular maintenance. 18 January 2014

Answer:
We do not have spare links available as they are not supplied by Shimano.

Quick Links are available if re-connecting the chain is the only issue causing problems with the drivetrain.

wrong amount of links

On my current bike from the shop there is 105 links ending with one male at each side put together by a link. Does it work to just chop it off to get the correct amount of links? If so, is this difficult?
And again, if it work does it matter if I buy the shortest or longest chain?

Answer:
You can shorten any chain with the use of a chain breaker tool (it is quite normal to need to shorten a new chain); 110 links is usually enough for a Double ring setup, and 116 links is for Triples.
