Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 13 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by solid and good for value product currently using Shimano SLX 10 sp groupset for my MTB. So i know i wouldn't go wrong with 105 part. 10 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good quality at a great price The shimano 105 series is the entry level to the higher end of shimano's equipment at an affordable price, I cannot this derailleur for the price, it's quiet quick shifting and at a bargain price. 07 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by does the job! Upgraded from Shimano 2300 (also upgraded to Tiagra levers at the same time) and shifting is now a lot more smooth, quiet and consistent. Quality part for a sensible price! 01 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Espectacular mudanças de velocidades rápidas e eficazes, mais leve que o Sora/Tiagra 13 May 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by good product i had this on my folding bike 20" wheel size. it helps on the clearance of the long cage which i worries for small stone flying in. and of course the shifting of gears are very smooth and silent. Just love it 09 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by PRICE Great price !!!!!!!!!and quality!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 28 February 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Unpretentious, reliable I like most about shimanos is that they always have a guide that tells you everything you need to set up properly. I like it that their rear derailer designs consider proper chain length with the chain running along the jockeys - which is how the chain actually runs in use. Does it help cut chain noise? Maybe.. It does sound quiet everywhere in the range. 27 January 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by No problems Using this with Tiagra STis, a 105 chain and a CX50 crankset. No issues other than the 10 speed noise. That said, it doesn't have any advantage that I can detect over the 2013 9-speed Sora setup on my tourer which was significantly cheaper or the 10 year old 105 9-speed on my other road bike. If I was doing the build again I'd probably just save money, use matching Sora with a compact and live with the gearing. 09 December 2013

Answer:
This range of cassette will be fine with this derailleur if used with a Compact crankset; however for a Traditional Double or Triple crankset, the Medium Cage will be required.

Would this GS rear mech work with a triple chainset 50/39/30 and a 11/28 cassette?
If this wouldn't work because of the front tooth difference/chain wrap what shimano rear mech would work and would it have to be a long cage for my Sirrus pro 2007?

Answer:
Deore is meant for MTB. the shifting gap is different.
Originally I am thinking of using my XT 10 Speed with it but understand from the bike shop in my country the shifter is unable to work properly with road bike rear dee.

was recommended to useR780 Shimano and it work great

Answer:
It is not recommended to run a Road Derailleur with MTB shifters due the variation in cable pull; this will cause irregular shifting.

It would be better to use Road Flat Bar shifters which will create a more consistent drivetrain; a 9-speed example suggested below.

I am looking at a 10 speed upgrade of my current 9 speed flat bar road bike. I have a compact 34/50 crankset and as I have a lot of hills in my area I'm looking at a 12-30T cassette. A short cage looks like it fits this capacity exactly (34). My concern is the Shimano tech docs which state that to use the Tiagra 4600 10 speed double flat bar shifter you must use a 4600/5700/6700 front mech and I was wondering if that applied to the rear mech as well i.e a 5700 mech and not the 5701? Is there a difference between these two models?Much appreciated.

Answer:
don't understand why you want 10 speed...why not putting a 9 speed cassette with more teeth?

also, Sora and Tiagra are pretty much the same so when upgrading go for 105.

The 5701 is simply the updated version of the 5700; operation and function is the same so it should work fine with the Tiagra Flat Bar shifters, yes.

Answer:
The reason for the 10 speed upgrade is due to the 9 speed cassette and short cage rear derailleur options I have available. Shimano don't make a 12-30T 9 speed cassette , they only make a 11-30T (19) which is over the capacity of a short cage rear derailleur (34 max) when combined with a 34/50 (16) compact crank set. I'm going for a complete 105 upgrade across the board except the flat bar shifters. Flat bar shifters are unavailable in the 105 group set - only in the dura ace and from what I've read the Tiagra level shifters are well and truly good enough without needing to spend the extra $. The 30T ring will make my life a lot easier. Hopefully that explains my 10 speed upgrade a little better. Cheers.

Replacement for Tiagra 9spd rear mech

Will this work as a replacement for a Tiagra 9spd rear mech on a Beone Mistral which has full Tiagra 9spd drivetrain with 50-39 front chainrings ?

It seems the Tiagra stuff for this bike is hard to come by now, so might consider upping to 10speed on the rear, but that will be a bigger outlay when only the rear mech and chain needs replaced !

thanks
-pete

Answer:
A 10-speed mech is spaced and indexed for use with a 10-speed drivetrain and is not recommended to run with a 9-speed setup.
