Rated 4 out of 5 by Cheap and easy to install. Can't go wrong for £9 Good value and quick shipping as usual. Crc never let you down. Decent brake for my 93 Kilauea. Not as much of a faff to set up as some cantis 03 January 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Have these been modified? I bought two Raleigh Pioneer bikes many years ago (15+yrs ). Both came equipped with these brakes. I replaced the ones on the bike that has had reasonable use many years ago with v-brakes after the plastic spring cowling (3 out of the 4) cracked and I couldn't get spare cowls. I have just looked at the other bike which has had very little use (if it has done 100 miles in total, that's it) and find that, again, 3 out of the 4 are cracked. The internet shows this to be a common and repeated problem. Unless they have replaced the plastic cowl with something more substantial, these cannot be recommended. 29 May 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by avoid! i understand that these brakes are cheap. and if that is your primary reason for looking at these, then consider spending a few dollars (or whatever currency you have) and get something better. these came with my bike and i get that older MTB are set up in a way that these might be the only option, fair enough. but there are much, MUCH better brakes for almost the same price if you're looking to replace. and i shudder to think that there might be worse out there to consider it an upgrade. they have (in my opinion) the stopping power of an old sock (almost none), in the wet and it's worse. when it comes time to change the pads, i found they were annoying to get positioned correctly. sadly, i wouldn't put these on another bike if someone gave me new ones for free. 31 May 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Valuable and good I ordered these as a replacement for V-brakes when I fitted a road bar to my hybrid. The levers are Shimano Tiagra and I fitted cable hangers both in the saddle stem and in the headset. I also replaced the original pads with Swisstop Green Rat (more costly than the brakes) to get a tight and working unit. 04 February 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good all round Ordered these, and they came within two days. Not to tricky to set up, but i am a mechanic. Stop very well, and look good. Will be getting a set for the rear now. Good service from Chain Reaction 01 July 2010

Answer:
The Altus cantilever brake is not supplied with cable. You will need a Link Wire or straddle cable and a standard brake cable in addition to the brake.
