Shimano Deore Rear Derailleurs Shadow 9sp M592

The Shimano Deore M592 Shadow Rear Derailleur is ideal for trail or all mountain biking. This Rear mech benefits from a top normal spring design and in high gear, the derailleur has a profile that is a 15mm less than a traditional rear derailleur. The derailleur body has a stronger spring providing greater stability and the redesigned bracket axle keeps the derailleur body from contacting the chainstay.

Shimano Deore Rear Derailleurs Shadow 9sp M592 Features:

  • Top normal spring design
  • Direct cable routing
  • Stronger spring
  • Redesigned bracket axle
  • SGS Black

Rated 4 out of 5 by Solid rear mech This mech looks good, feels good and works well. The shifts are crisp and the adjustments effective. It has quite a stiff spring so a lot of my chain slap has gone, and the low profile makes it less prone to damage. Great performance for the price. 05 February 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Shimano Deore M592 Shadow 9 Speed Rear Mech I just upgraded from a Shimano Acera to a Shimano Deore M592 Shadow 9 Speed Rear Mech. The difference, for a novice like me (I suppose...only 10 mos in the saddle) is amazing. Smooth shifting. Quiet. Precise. No need to tweak after every other ride. Something less to worry about. Solid performance on fairly rough rides.... I'm riding on 70% trails and 30% tarmac. 27 December 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good value for the price I have used this rd for about an year and had no major trouble at all so far. It works perfectly as long as you ride normally. It seems it sometimes gets jammed a little when riding through very rough trails where the chain boun- ces up and down so hard. It might be because of the cheap jocky wheels, I don't know. I sometimes feel a little lag when shifting, which you also may comparing to the higher-grade smoother and faster ones, but then again, it's not that much of problem. It takes a bit of trouble when putting the wheel back as other people say, but it matters very little to me. This one's pretty good enough for the price, I think. Very satisfied. I just save 1 star for the upper ones.(SLX, XT...) 20 October 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by just a little something to say what i think The deore rear mech just feels so smooth when going through the gears it feels better than the old xt one It's replacing I am well pleased the mech and the price and service from crc 28 December 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by great piece of kit have one of these on my giant anthem really happy with the shifting quality no messing about does the job well 12 March 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Really Good product This is one of the best bang for the buck in MTBing. The first upgrade I did to the drivetrain on my Commuter/trail bike. a couple reasons I got it was because of the shadow design and direct routing, getting rid of that big ass cable loop getting. To be honest I thought it was going to be junk because of the price. but it turned out to be inexpensive not cheap. never had a problem with it staying tuned. I climb steep technical terrains, rattled over roots, rock gardens, through rain, mud, snow and small drops and it never failed me once. This is the real deal at a killer price. And I love the no nonsense look of it. I had x9 drivetrain on my 29er, and with all honesty I can't really find any difference in terms of reliability. 05 January 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by fitness this is a great product, looks great and it strong and its a great price for what you get. but the downside is that is does not fit on banshee scream bike, i had to make a costom hanger to make it fit. 23 November 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great piece of kit, bargain price! Got this as a replacement after mashing my old one. Great price and service as usual from CRC, but was really suprised at how good this mech is.Lighter and more positive changes than before with Deore shifters, and really easy to set up as well. 25 September 2011

Answer:
Though I do know that CRC and Shimano Tech service wouldn't recommend this,
and it will be all up to your own responsibility, but this RD works with 8s cassette
without any problem. I have used like that for 1 year without any trouble. As you
may know, the movement of RD is controlled by the shifter, either 7s, 8s or 9s, it
doesn't really matter what RD you use, as long as it moves wide enough for the
gears. RD itself hasn't got the Index System, you see. I guess the pulliesof RD
will do both of 8s and 9s. You may find a very little inconvenince when shifting,
but I don't think it will be fatal unless you race or something. Again, on your own
responsibility. Good luck.

Answer:
You can directly replace the XTR dérailleur with the Deore M592, they use the same pull ratio and it will work perfectly well.

The clutch derailleurs are only available for 10 speed drive trains, so if you want a clutch you will need to change the whole drive train.

The Deore is a Shadow model so will have a stiffer mechanism than usual and help keep the chain tensioned.
