Rated 5 out of 5 by Toddy Excellent lever at a great price.
Bought these brakes 12 months ago and have had no problems. Levers are just the right size with plenty of adjustment on them and feel great. They do have plastic reservoir covers but for the price what do you expect.

This is a good value brake lever, it works and its cheap but sadly its not all good news. The build below the top cap is decent and can take a hit, however the top cap is plastic. A plastic that smashed to bits in a crash in which the bars hit the floor admittedly. Its possibly not going to happen too often but the fact that it did and then rendered the brake useless as the reservoir was open! The xt range (next one up) has a metal cap which wouldn't have broken in this instance but is obviously a lot more money.
That being said I'm going to order another one anyway to give it a second chance, try not to fall off and see how it goes haha :) You get what you pay for.

somebody at shimano has got it real wrong, im buying this deore lever to replace my second broken zee lever both after DH tree strikes. the plastic reservoir cover is far to weak and I have snapped the clamp clean off after one crash even though I run my controls loose on the bars to prevent them snapping. I have also had to replace 1 x xt calliper and 1 x xt lever on my trail bike due to leaks.
was going to pay top whack for a saint lever without plastic cover but have been told that new saint levers have been discontinued and presume the rest of the shimano brake range will follow, read what the forums have to say about them before you decide to buy, I have had nothing but trouble with both sets of 2012 shimano brakes
such a shame as power is superb when they do work

These are very good levers, my only minor complaint is that there is little literature about how to bleed these puppies correctly. However, I did a bottom-up fluid replacement/bleed method, just pushed the fluid out thru the the filler cap with a syringe, and it worked just fine. Nice levers.
