Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Who needs a tripple anyway? With 40/28 rings I now have a much more plausible gear range of 22 to 99inches on my Ghost cross country bike. Tall eneough to do 24mph on the flat with a gear in hand and low eneough to ride up anything I'm ever likely to want to tackle! Coupled with an SLX M667 mechanism, I now have perfect and rapid shifting between the two ranges as well as reduced ring wear from being on the middle ring most of the time on the factory fitted tripple! 15 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by great choice for 1x10 upgrade on a budget Bought this to upgrade my crank to accomadate a raceface narrow/wide chain wheel and go 10 speed , this is a real quality product that costs so little and if going for 10 speed as I did you wont require new chain ring bolts as the raceface sprocket fits on the outer and the bolts that come with it arent too long 05 March 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good value chainset. Bought this for my Pipedream belt drive winterbike. Perfect fit. Done 150km in snow/salt/sand mixed conditions without issues. 24 February 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Shiney! Smooth rolling, light, strong, well made... Very good piece of kit. Absolute bargain. 03 February 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excelent! Acquired 104mm, 38.24t, 170mm Shimano Deore M615 10 Speed Double Chainset. Actual weight 900 gr. I recommend! 28 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Shimano SLX M675 Top Swing 2x10 Front Mech 20 November 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Отличное цена -качество Проста в установке,смотрится отлично,не дорогая цена.Рекомендую. 03 November 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Надежная система Простая в установке , хорошо выглядящая , а самое главное - отлично работающая система. Шикарно меня никогда не подводил , в этот раз тем более. Система крутится прекрасно , работает очень тихо. 07 October 2013

Answer:
It depends on the type of mechanism and how much you can slide it down the seat tube.
The biggest problem will be overshifting the chain so it misses the larger ring if you can't move it close enough for the cage to keep the chain where you need it. The other danger will be an eccentric gap with an entry large eneough for an over-shifted chain to jam.

I'd suggest 'suck it and see' (which is what I did) although I couldn't move my mech. down far enough and, after a couple of over-shifts too many bought a new mech.

And https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shimano-slx-m667-conventional-2x9-front-mech/rp-prod27692 was eighteen quid well spent!

Answer:
Replacing the front derailleur should not be too much of an issue to setup as the limit screws can be adjusted to reduce cage movement. However the Triple shifter will have an additional Third click which will not do anything.

This is not a mechanical issue but can cause some riders irritation.

Aside from that; this crankset should function fine without any problems.

This crankset has a BCD of 104 meaning most chainrings are compatible with the spider.

A 1 x 10 setup is certainly possible with the crankset.

Given the difference in chain width and chainring spacing on the new 10 speed systems, it is advised to run them with their corresponding 10 speed components only.

Answer:
A nine speed mech will work (that's what I'm using!) if you're running 9 speed.

More of an issue is the gap between cage and ring which may result in shifting off the ring, or worse, an overshifted chain getting stuck in the narrowing gap between cage and ring.

Trial and error (my method) probably best, and, if you do find you lose your overshifted chain, buy one of these:- https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shimano-slx-m667-conventional-2x9-front-mech/rp-prod27692

A bargain at eighteen quid!

Answer:
The chainset that you run is not related to wheel size. This chainset is suitable for MTB use.

Shimano offer various sizes of chainrings which would be compatible with this chainset.

Answer:
Yes of course, 26" is, after all, the default MTB wheel size, although that's actually irrelevant.

Whether you need to change one of the rings depends on what you're trying to achieve.

First off, you need to calculate your current gear range (in inches) to work out your ideal inner an outer rings. You should find one of the options available gets you close to what you're after. If you do decide to increase the gap between the rings, you need to be sure you will be able to cope with simultaneous front & rear shifting and this will depend very much on how and where you ride.

Answer:
This crankset will fit the frame fine. If your shifters have a double shift option then this will operate the front mech correctly with the double chainrings. You Will need to adjust the front mech as you may be changing the tooth ratio a little so this will need set up correctly. As for the bashguards you would be best to contact us at tech@chainreactioncycles.com with a budget as to what you would be looking for so we can advise you further.

Answer:
It's going to depend on which ring set you buy - check the maximimum ring size for your current mech. if it's only a couple of teeth different you should be ok. Ultimately, the only way to be sure is to fit one and see how the cage looks against your outer ring.

With the optimum 3mm gap at the closest point, you don't want the lead in to be big enough to swallow an over-shifted chain which will then jam as the gap closes around it!

If you get the cage/ ring relationship right, you dont NEED bash rings, which are an over-shift bodge solution.

The tripple mech will handle a gap between 24 and 42 tooth rings which is what it's doing now, so as long as you don't go crazy (in which case you'll need to look at Middleburn!) it should work, although obviously, the limits will need adjusting.

Answer:
Yes; the HT2 refers to Hollowtech II (Shimano's external bracket system) and 68/73 refers to the compatible shell width on the frame. If your frame has an English threaded bottom bracket any of the standard external bracket systems will fit to run any 24mm spindle chainset (such as the M615).

The bottom bracket is not supplied with this model of crankset.

Both bottom bracket models below are compatible depending on whether your frame requires a 'threaded' or 'pressfit' version.
