Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 58 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great brakes on a budget I ride Saint M810's on my main mtb rig, and got these to throw on the my old Reign. I've got to say, I'm duly impressed, these work a treat for a budget brake. Low to no noise, good modulation, easy set up and so far no issues what-so-ever. I'd recommend these to anyone over far more expensive brakes, a great buy. 14 September 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Отличный тормоз за такие деньги! Отличный тормоз за такие деньги! Плавность торможение просто отлично! 10 September 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great brakes Was looking for some nice budget brakes for my XC bike, these were just the job. 05 September 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Really nice value for money. For this price you wont find a better brake. I use it on a all rounder bike as front brake. Easily used with one finder(not too big hands). The modulation is perfect. Easy to install, really nice quality. Can only recommend especially for this price. 05 September 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The best cheap brake out there. An excellent brake, put a 203mm rotor on the front and you can use these for downhill with 1 finger. I cannot fault them other than that the top is made of plastic and scratches easily in a crash, but they have withstood a lot without leaking yet. 04 September 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by First rate stoppers at a great price Bought one of these to replace the seized Clarks Skeletal on the rear of my wife's Carrera Vulcan (incidentally that seized after not much use at all!). Very impressed with the delivery from CRC, very easy to fit the brake as it came ready bled and basically ready to go straight on. I'm not particularly mechanically minded but found it a breeze to fit, hose is slightly longer than the one it replaced but nothing to get upset about. All in all very happy, it does it's job well and I will probably replace the existing front brake with another one of these. 29 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Bye bye brake squeal! Fitted this as a replacement/upgrade for the M395 front set that was on the bike as bought. Dead simple to fit in place, the only downer is that the brake hose is around 200mm longer than it needs to be (no doubt someone else will be along later to say it's 200mm too short for their setup) - so some rainy day I'll be shortening the hose (with the inherent bleeding required) but it comes with the required bits to be able to do the shortening. 100miles or so in and I'm loving this so much that I'll be doing the same replacement on the rear. 28 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Boss brakes, different colors and pad compounds? The front brake I bought came with the silver cap as shown in the first image, and the rear brake I bought came with the black cap. The lever shape is slightly different, but not noticeably while riding. The front brake came with ORGANIC pads, while the rear were "METAL" pads. This made the front brake very soft, and the rear very touchy. So I swapped the pads front to rear, and now I am satisfied, but confused as to why this would not be disclosed. The difference in wear would not be something I would ignore. Overall these brakes have a very consistent contact, the levers at exactly perpendicular to the bars, regardless of lever reach *ahem* Avid *ahem* which makes them tune-able to comfort without compromising performance. While I can't compare them to the SLX or XT brakes, I can't say they have ever overheated or faded on me, when I am not even using ice-tech rotors. Will soon buy a second set of shimano brakes, to replace my old Avid brakes on my second bike. Shimano is clearly the way to go for brakes, provided you like the lever shape. 21 August 2014

Answer:
If you mean can they be integrated then not likely, the Shimano intergration system is called "iSpecA or iSpecB" you can of course run the levers and the shifters side by side.

Rotors

I am converting my brake system from the Avid Juicy 3 brakes I have that came fitted to my Specialized Rockhopper when I bought it, to these brakes. Will I need to change the rotors currently fitted that came with the Juicy 3s and, if so, what rotor is best with these brakes?

Answer:
I used 203 Magura discs F & R so your 160/185 rotors if that's what you have would be fine just be careful you may need to change the mounts to Shimano I just had to do the front IS mount to get the pads/caliper to line up with the disc correctly.

Answer:
An Olive is a small compression ring which is required when re-attaching brake lines after shortening brake hose.

If you require different hose sizing's than 1000mm front and 1700mm rear then the option with olives would be a good idea for customising the hose length.

Answer:
Olives are a small copper or brass, olive shaped part hollow through the center which fits over the end of a hydraulic brake hose and compresses in the caliper or lever to create a seal around the hose and needle/jag wire needle which goes on the end of the hose to maximize pressure and create a seal.

Answer:
Olives sit in the mount between the hose and the brake assembly providing a good seal and a degree of movement. They come in the pack incase you need to cut the hose down to size. Which you probably will.

Answer:
Using the same rotor is most instances will not be a problem; although the rotor would have to be spaced correctly for the caliper it will be used with.

Taking the rotor size into account in relation to how far the caliper will be pushed out from the frame (mount adaptor) is also important.

Answer:
Until recently, I used to have a mechanical disc brake system on my bike. The answer is yes, you can install hydraulic brakes using back the same disc. No need to change the disc unless it is warped by your mechanical brakes. (unlikely)

However you need to be aware- is the gear shifters on your handlebar is an independent brake lever (not those combined or integrated gear shifter+brake lever) if no, then sadly you might need to change both sets of brakes + both sets of shifters in order to work

Answer:
The main differences are weight, performance and intended usage.

The Deore is an entry level brake (but still a high performer), SLX would be the next stage up for more aggressive trail riding and the XT line is a high performing brake for most styles of riding. Then the XTR range offer the power and control of XT in a lighter package and more 'Bling'.
