Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 41 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by the best brake for this price they are as good as slx brakes and have good performance for street or park riding. 18 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Buen acabado y tacto de frenado No tiene casi nada que envidiar con los XT. Posibilidad de poder montar pastillas con disipador de calor 17 July 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice brakes, almost as good as its big brothers Bought this to upgrade the rear brake from a AVid BB7 for one of my bikes. Even the BB7 being so good for a cable actuated brake, it was obviously not so good as the XT M785 that I have on another bike. I opted for Shimanos because they are easy to maintain (bleed, adjust, shorten cable, and oil type), if you ever need, wich I didn't in the past years. 09 July 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Massive improvement from v-brakes Arrived in the original packaging but without any real instructions for fitting or bleeding. I installed them easily enough but got the local bike shop to fine tune alignment and cut the hoses to length as I didn't want the hassle of bleeding them if I messed up. Have run them for around 200 miles now and have got used to the difference in feel - there's much more modulation in these than in my old v-brakes which I didn't like at first but appreciate now. Haven't had any need to adjust them and after a bit of squealing during the bedding in process they are very positive and fade resistant giving me confidence to descend even faster. I'm running these with 180mm SLX RT68 rotors front and rear - if I was setting up again I'd probably go for 180mm front but 160mm rear for better balance but that's a minor thing - they make a bit of a buzzing sound I hadn't expected as the holes in the rotor pass through the pads and the air heats up, just something else to get used to, doesn't cause any vibrations. Very happy with them, good value at £35 each. 08 July 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by adequate at best I ordered these on the basis that I've had deore brakes on one of my bikes for five years and they have been fantastic. The rear brake did not arrive in the original shimano packaging but the front did. Some of the instructions were missing from the box. They were described as fully bled but when I fitted them I found this was not the case. This was not such an issues as I needed to shorten the very long brake pipes anyway. The brakes were supplied with olives but you do need to buy a bleed kit, bleed funnel and mineral oil. Luckily I have these already but it would be good to be told what you need them in the description. Once fitted and after bedding the pads in I can only described the performance as adequate but not confidence inspiring. They will be fine on my commuting bike, but I definitely would not consider them for anything else. If your after a budget brake I would recommend you look at other manufacturers. One of my bikes was supplied with tektro brake and they are much more effective. 03 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Отличное соотношение цена/качество Прекрасные тормоза за свои деньги. Использовал месяц с обычными колодками, потом поставил металлические. Тормозят хорошо, настраиваются легко. Рекомендую. 03 July 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Difficult to mount and leaked. This is an awful brake. The pads would not go around my 1.6 mmwide rotor and when I attempted to fit some organic pads, the piston dislodged and leaked. Seriously, don't waste your money on these. 25 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by

Answer:
If you mean can they be integrated then not likely, the Shimano intergration system is called "iSpecA or iSpecB" you can of course run the levers and the shifters side by side.

Rotors

I am converting my brake system from the Avid Juicy 3 brakes I have that came fitted to my Specialized Rockhopper when I bought it, to these brakes. Will I need to change the rotors currently fitted that came with the Juicy 3s and, if so, what rotor is best with these brakes?

Answer:
I used 203 Magura discs F & R so your 160/185 rotors if that's what you have would be fine just be careful you may need to change the mounts to Shimano I just had to do the front IS mount to get the pads/caliper to line up with the disc correctly.

Answer:
Olives sit in the mount between the hose and the brake assembly providing a good seal and a degree of movement. They come in the pack incase you need to cut the hose down to size. Which you probably will.

Answer:
Olives are a small copper or brass, olive shaped part hollow through the center which fits over the end of a hydraulic brake hose and compresses in the caliper or lever to create a seal around the hose and needle/jag wire needle which goes on the end of the hose to maximize pressure and create a seal.

Answer:
An Olive is a small compression ring which is required when re-attaching brake lines after shortening brake hose.

If you require different hose sizing's than 1000mm front and 1700mm rear then the option with olives would be a good idea for customising the hose length.

I bought a set F&R took them out the box and fitted them, work a treat, no fuss. The rear one would benefit from a bleed but it works OK. Cables F&R are too long for my bike and need to be cut down but this is an aesthetic thing only.
