Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Service This is my first order from you. I am very impressed on how every thing was handled. I just received my shifters today and am looking forward to installing them this weekend. You had the best prices and the best delivery service. I live on an island and was very impressed by how fast I got my parts, less than five days to get to west coast of USA form your store . Thank you very much. I will be doing more business with you. Rated 5 out of 5 by A perfeição da simplicidade Sem dúvida a simplicidade destes trocadores contribui para a sua perfeição. Acionamento preciso, facilidade de operação e instalação, baixo peso e beleza são fatores que tornam estes trocadores uma maravilha da engenharia. Para quem não sente necessidade de STIs é uma compra altamente recomendável. 24 September 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by top quality shifting Great quality product , precise snappy gear changes like we all enjoyed before we were all taken in by the marketing hype of sti shifters.... 13 December 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Oldie but goodie STI shifters may be the accepted way to change gear but I used these as a way to save weight and cost on a new bike build. They are beautifully made and finished and took 5 minutes to attach and index. Top quality old school shifters. 07 August 2009

Answer:
As the rear shifter is indexed for 9-speed but can be set to 'friction mode'; with a bit of playing around when setting up the rear mech and shifter running on a 6-speed setup should not be a problem.

Answer:
They are going on 91 Cannondale Criterion, which was originally a six speed double, that i have upgraded to a nine speed triple. I used this road bike to climb up 26 degree slopes. there are lots of steep hills where I live, and you need every gear you can get. hope that helps.

Do these down tube shifters come with a radiused lever boss cover?

These shifters will work on my frame, but also need a radiused lever boss cover which is a small part that goes between the lever and the frame.

The Shimano part # is Y64338101.

I'm building up a touring bike and would like downtube shifters. To get suitable gear ratios, i will have to get chainset, cassette and derailleurs from the mountain bike/trekking range.

Answer:
You are basically doing the same thing I am doing. I commute on my road bike and my route currently is twenty miles round trip, with a ferry ride in the middle. It has 10 miles of up hill in either direction. the ruling grade is at 16 percent . I use a mountain bike cassette with a long cage in back and triple ring crank with my down tube sifters, no problem.. Hope this helps you. Good riding to you.
