Rated 5 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Light and Stiff I needed a compact 50/34 crankset as I enjoy climbing. My favourite climb is Wuling, a relentlessly, steep monster in Taiwan. Wuling is the highest road climb in Asia at 3275m. It is reckoned to be the hardest climb east of Monte Zoncolan. These cranks have served with distinction. Despite the lack of heft (lightest DAs to date), they are plenty stiff and I have not been able to flex them even grinding up the steepest slopes. Even though these are intended to be used on 11-spd drivetrains, I am using them with a 10-spd DA7800 system and they still shift flawlessly. No regrets and highly recommended. I bought this crankset at CRC - great price. 26 June 2014

Yes it is. I am in fact using this with the old 10-spd DA7800 with no issue. Shifts well.

Answer:
In practice the mixing of this crankset with a 10-speed drivetrain would not be a problem however the narrow tooth profile on the chainrings will eat into a 10-speed chain at a much faster rate than the correct speed chainrings.

For this reason also; shifting smoothness will be compromised.

Ideally it would be best to only use a 10-speed crankset with a 10-speed drivetrain for the best performance.

Answer:
This chainset runs a standard 24mm spindle, so is compatible with both conventional threaded systems and the new press-fit system. You simply need to buy the appropriate bottom bracket to suit your frame.

Answer:
Unfortunately not; the amount of cable pull for the rear shifting is somewhere inbetween current Shimano road and mountain derailleurs. As a result you can’t buy the new derailleurs and use your current shifters, nor can you buy just the new shifters.

This crankset requires the new Shimano updated Road bottom bracket which although the Dura-Ace 9000 version (Italian - 70mm) is out of stock, the Ultegra version is available.
