21 September 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by неплохо Левая чашка каретки пластмассовая, что при последующем демонтаже скажется, думаю, положительно (предыдущую стальную откручивал долго - прикипела). По работе претензий нет. Ценник гуманный. 03 September 2014

Rated 1 out of 5 by Not True to Original part I purchased one of these as a direct replacement for my 2010 Specialized Rockhopper. After installation I had trouble indexing the outer chainring and wasted many many many hours adjusting my front mech and many expletives until I eventually broke it.... more expletives ;o(. Finally to my dismay I discovered the replacement bottom bracket is not the same as the original ES25 BB removed from the bike even though it is to the same 68x118 specification. To the eye it is very difficult to spot any differences but by removing the new part and refitting the original part my gears index perfectly. I have now sourced and installed a new Shimano ES25 BB 68x113, this also runs perfectly. It is my opinion that Shimano have an issue with Tolerancing with their new parts or the tools from which they are manufacturing these parts. 08 August 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by No-nonsense BB Glad to see these are still readily available to keep my winter mtb running without needing to upgrade the cranks. Very easy to install with the right tools and lifespan is still good compared with the cheap HT2 BB's when used in winter mud. 07 May 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Get Rid and ugrade to hollow tech , you will not regret it direct swap for original octalink BB , was a pain in the rear to change , I would recommend spending some cash and upgrading to a hollow tech BB , you will not regret it 22 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quailty! Quick delivery, arrived 1st class mail the bottom bracket is well packaged. I will fit this onto my bike soon, Great service and a great product from Shimano :) Thanks, ChainreactionCycles! 19 May 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Runs very smooth. Came with a Specialized Hardrock purchased in 2007 and took three years of use and a few months of weather to bring it down. And because of how cheap and effective it is, I am more than happy to replace it and buy a spare. Great Product :) 04 December 2010

voodoo bokor 29er

Hi there. I have a voodoo bokor 29er and think I need to change the bb . I have measured the spindle (whilst still on the bike with the crank arms off) and I think it's 133 or their about. Would the 127mm do the job? Many thanks in advance. The voodoo bokor is the 2010/11 modal. Matt white if that's any help.

Answer:
We are not a Voodoo Dealer however research suggests that this bike uses a square taper bottom bracket; spindle length is important for maintaining chainline, it is advisable to re-measure before purchasing a new bearing set.

BB size for Claris chainset

Hi,

I am fitting a new chainset to my 8 speed road bike. I am going to get the Claris chainset and require the appropriate BB. However the octagon bb comes in 3 sizes which don't match the size of the Claris.

Which should I be purchasing?

You can use the ES51 bracket linked below instead of the ES25 - the Triple ring 2403 crank requires a 121mm spindle length, while the Double ring 2450 requires a 113mm.

Answer:
Assuming the stock Shimano M430 crankset is still being used; the bottom bracket required is the 68 x 118mm version of the Shimano ES25 (part number - sku117329).

Answer:
This bottom bracket will likely fit the frame without any issues, however the spindle length is relative to the crankset which is being used in conjunction with it.

Answer:
If you have retained the original chainset and just removed the additional rings to leave you with a single, you can use the same size of bottom bracket (68x118mm); if you are fitting a new chainset, the bottom bracket spindle length will be dependent upon it.

Length of spindle?

I"m renovating my old 8 speed winter bike replacing a very old square taper 105 crankset with the Claris compact. So I need an Octalink bottom bracket. The Claris groupset specifies this ES25 model. But my current square taper is 113mm long and ES25 doesn't do that size. Should I use the closest match ES25, which is I think 118mm long or stick with the 113 and get a different model of BB- like the ES51?

Answer:
The crankset dictates the axle length required, as this matches the offset on the cranks. You can fit a longer axle if you wish; this simply means you will increase the Q-factor on your cranks and will need to close up any gaps with spacers.
Any V2 Octalink profile in the correct length should be fine, so something like the ES51 will be ok.
