Rated 5 out of 5 by I bought a pair of these 18 months ago, at the full price of £70. Apart from causing me to fall of a few times (my first time clipped on!) they have improved my cycling no end. Anyone wondering about making the leap to being clipped in, do it! you won;t regret it if you buy these, great fit, comfortable maintenance free. I wear mine virtually all year 'round (about 46 weeks of the year); I cycle to work (all weathers) and if they get wet, I dry them out on the hot pipes in the plant room! At £52, exceptional value! Gonna buy the Shimano gor-tex winter boot. Got into bother for using the hot pipes..... 13 August 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by For SPD shoes these are hard to beat - especially at the CRC bargain price which undercuts anywhere else I have seen. Like other Shimano shoes I have owned they are quite narrow, so although I am really a size nine wide fitting I went for 45 (which they reckon is 10.5) and they are comfortable. The three velcro straps hold them securely, and no more laces to snap or get caught in your chain. Just a mention on the fitting of SPD cleats. The shoes come with a captive plate which goes inside the shoe and provides the holes for the fixing bolts. With the pedals you should have a pair of cleats, four fixing bolts and two little plates to go between the bolts and cleats. As the photo shows, there is no section of sole to rip out with pliers, it has already been done for you. A couple of minutes to bolt them on and there you are. 17 March 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great shoe but make sure you buy a bigger size, I'm always a size UK 9 but had to get a size 45. 03 March 2010
Rated 4 out of 5 by Bought these shoes 18 months ago size 47 as my first clip ons running egg beaters. I've used these in two 24's and many 3 hour races and a inter-schools. They have taken all of it, riding though mass puddles and mud. Great comfort and they seem pretty stiff. I've torn one of the soles open on the inside arch, so I'm going to try glue them up for a few more weeks of use then I'm planing on getting the 183's with the carbon sole. :) Great shoe for anyone who's new to clip ons with no silly laces to break, just pop them on and enjoy! 28 February 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by really good shoes, you will probably need to buy a size bigger than you normally would because of diffrent sizeing. really good quality, buy them, easy to fit and wear extra sox due to velcro fastning. will not regret it!!! 22 February 2010
Rated 3 out of 5 by I bought these shoes almost a year ago now and have found them generally fine. Comfort: The tongue is quite small and sometimes the inner material can make your foot itch. The are vented quite well, and, while this is great in summer, in winter your feet freeze! Fitting-wise, I have no problems with cramping or the like (size 11UK.) Riding: I use these shoes in conjunction with TIME cleats. They work perfectly for riding fixie. The sole is quite strong, doesn't feel like its going to come apart. On a cold day, however, I find that if my feet are going on numb, then clipping out can be quite painful at times! Not sure whether its the shoes to blame on that one though. Walking: Not the best for walking. The front of the sole is elevated which makes walking a bit of a pain. For the likes of courier/messenger work, they're fine. But if you're heading into town at the weekend (and then walking about), they are not the most comfortable. Though the cleat is protected well from the ground, despite this. Style: They're discreet enough if you let them be. Summary: A shoe that is worth the investment. It will do the job its supposed to do (enable you to ride clipless) but there are no real luxeries included. 26 December 2009
