Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 48 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very good in cold and wet. Buy a size up, so you can have a thicker sock. These are for cold weather, so thick socks will be in order anyway. I've had Shimano winter boots for many years and they do get better each revision. Cobblers can fix any Velcro wear, because the boots will outlast the Velcro straps. I wear these down to minus 10 Celsius, and I usually get cold feet, but these are quite good. Of course, eventually my feet will get cold, but the boots seem to give me a bit more time beforehand. I would buy these again. 13 April 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice and warm! Good fit, use the same size as in my summer shimano shoes (one size up on my regular sho size). Have kept my feets warm and dry, only used down to around zero dergees. My only issue is with the sole that is a bit hard and makes them slippery on hard surfaces. 15 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very good boots but not without issues I live in Norway at the moment so have regular use of these on a lot of days in Stavanger, especially in winter. I am yet to have wet feet after some pretty heavy rain (40 minutes each way commuting). They are also quite warm provided you have thick socks, although my feet did start to get cold when it was about -10 DegC with wind chill ! The sizing is very small, I am about a 42.5 EU but opted for Size 44, and even then there isn't much room at the front. These would get 5 star apart from a few things. There is an inside strap which catches on your foot and snags up your socks. The velcro on the ankle also can catch your socks. These are minor details but get quite annoying every morning. So it just takes time to put them on. Note the ankle cuffs are also not very waterpoof, so if your ankles are not completely covered by waterproof trousers you are obviously going to start getting some water in. I don't think these are anymore waterproof than overshoes, however they are much more durable. Guess you get what you pay for. I would recommend these overall unless you are on a budget in which case overshoes would be fine. 19 February 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by ottimi per il clima invernale siciliano scarpe molto belle e comode rigide quanto basta ho preso una misura in piu' come consigliavano. ok! 07 February 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Warm & dry feet, finally! If these boots didn't have a strange strap inside them making the awkward to put on I would have given them 5*s. 02 February 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not Waterproof I wore these boots for the first time today in the N.Irish rain and within 30mins my feet were wet. On returning home after 2 hrs of fairly persistent rain I poured at least 50ml of water out of each boot. DO NOT BUY !!!! 01 February 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by BEWARE-Good boot when extra kit added. I have done two rides with these boots and have returned with wet and painfully cold feet. About 6 miles into the ride in persistent rain the water started to get in down the leg into the boot. This is the major floor with nearly all so called 'waterproof' boots. The closure system onto the leg does not stop the water getting in. So the water gets in and can't get out so your feet are swimming in water that is getting colder and colder in the windchill until the feet are cold and numb. These boots would be great in dry cold weather but in the rain you need an additional pair of waterproof leggings so the water can't enter the boots at the ankle. These are decent boots but you have to understand that rain will soak down your tights or leg warmers, socks and into them and the boot ends up being counterproductive as the water can't then get out. Use with caution. I went one size up as advised and they fit great with a nice thick sock. 26 January 2014

Answer:
As you are only using these for indoor cycling on stationary bikes. It will not really matter which shoe you buy, other than for personal choice.
You need to check with the club(s) to find out which cleat system they are using, 2 pin SPD (MTB) or 3 pin SPD SL (Road), before purchasing a pair of cycling shoes.

Shimano shoe sizing

Reading people's reviews, it appears that Shimano sizing is generally small. I take a size 10 in a normal shoe, what size would you suggest for the Shimano MW81? Thanks.

Do cleats come with the Shimano MW81 Gore-Tex Winter SPD Boots 2014. I don't have any in the box and want to set up to work with my current pedals and don't want to take the cleats off my summer shoes.

Answer:
No cleats supplied with boots. There are just too many variations out there to supply cleats. Cleats usually come with the pedals or are bought separately

Do you sell the optional spike mount?

It says in the description: "with optional spike mount". Is this spike mount used for icy weather for walking, or for something else? (Is it like studs in a tire)
Do you sell this optional spike mount, or does it come with the shoe and it is just optional to install it?

Answer:
I can confirm that shoes will not be supplied with the optional sole studs/spikes and these would need to be purchased separately if required. Unfortunately we currently do not stock the Shimano sole spikes. The sole spikes can be inserted into the front of the shoe to provide extra grip in muddy or snowy conditions whilst on foot.
