I'm currently running a 9sp deore setup with a 22/32/42T chainset and I'm wondering whether the 48T would be a suitable replacement for the current 42T outer chainring - I'm wondering whether my front derailleur will be able to handle the step-up in size, it's post mounted.
I want a bigger ring for higher speeds on the flat / downhill and this looks like the best option.
Thanks

Answers

Answer:
Increasing the front ring to 48tooth would create a 16tooth step between the middle and outer ring.

The recommended max step is 12teeth and this intended setup; if it would shift at all would not be efficient or smooth. Increasing to 44tooth would likely be the best option and possibly change up the cassette ratio if applicable.

Drop an email to our Tech Department below and we can discuss the options.

Hi, is this chainring steel or alloy and could it be used as a replacement on a Deore LX chainset (2006)?

Just a bit of customer feedback, but several of your chainring specifications omit whether the ring is steel or alloy making it difficult to choose. Also it is very difficult to understand which chainrings are compatible with which chainsets.

Thanks.

Answer:
This chainring is compatible to run with the M660 crankset; however spacing may not be 100%, but 1mm thick washers will solve this problem should it be an issue.

This chainring is made from an Alloy as are most Shimano chainrings; which carry the strength properties of Steel but are much lighter.

Answer:
These chainrings are intended to be compatible with the M660, M770, M760 and the M600 cranksets.

They are not however compatible with the M572 crankset due to the style of the chainring spider.

Specific chainrings are required for this crankset, for more advice on the parts you require; please contact our Technical Department below -
