Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Product great product that does the job well and at an affordable price. 23 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Brought for HILLS I was entered into this years etape, i'm not the smallest cyclist and needed more gears as big hills, this with 12-30 cassette has worked for me, i've been in Spain doing training up cat 1 climbs for over 2 hours of climbing and it was hard but plodded along. I'm now looking forward to the Etape. 11 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great upgrade Upgrading my 10/double Tiagra gear , easy to fit and set up and works really smoothly. 24 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quality mech Matched up with ulltegra Sti shifters, this rear mech is superb, very easy to fit, and very little adjustment required, works flawlessly. Highly recommended. 29 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice action After purchasing my Ultegra 12x30 cass. I had to change out my DA 7800 derailluer due to the lack of clearance. I could have possibly made it work but the precision would have been compromised. This 6700 is doing a great job with out the anxiety the 7800 might have caused. The 12x30 coupled with the 6700 is a great team. 23 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very good! Ultegra 6700 is quite a sufficient level for training, rear deraileur works fine as well. 01 March 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Este es un producto resistente y de calidad Es un buen producto y fiable, pero con los golpes que se sufre en carretera tiende a perder su regulación con relativa frecuencia 09 February 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Buon Servizio al Cliente e buoni prezzi Devo dire che, dopo un primo problema legato al colore del cambio ultegra 6700, sono stato assistito bene dalla Sig.ra Angela nel risolvere il problema in tempi brevi. 23 January 2014

Answer:
Sadly it won't work, you will have gear-shifting issues unless you use a compatible 9-speed rear mech to partner your existing drivetrain.

Answer:
A Shimano road medium cage is 83mm in length from the jockey wheels centre to centre. If your own cage is shorter you will then require a medium cage mech.

It is not possible to switch cages between mech bodies.

Short or Medium?

Hi,

How do I know which cage I need? Will my existing mech have a marking on it to tell me what it is or do I need to check something else? All I know is that I have an ultegra 6700 grey?

Answer:
The cage length required is in relation to the tooth count capacity of the drivetrain; the cage length controls the chain slack caused by larger capacity drivetrains.

If you can supply the tooth count on the chainrings of your crankset and the tooth count of the largest and smallest sprocket on your cassette to our Technical Department below, we can advise further.

I am looking for a rear derailleur that can handle an 11/34 cassette and a cassette to go with it. I am currently running Dura Ace but would consider Ultegra as an alternative for my Cervelo RS. I have an 11/28 Ultegra cassette but our area contains many climbs that run 15% and steeper and I need some more help to keep spinning.

Answer:
This rear mech in its Medium cage form will only deal with a 32 tooth. If you go above a 32tooth cassette you will then need to change the rear mech to a longer cage or MTB style version.
What you can do, which will give you the same ratio is change your 39 tooth chainring to a 34 tooth chainring. This will give the same gearing for better hill climbing.

Answer:
I run this mech, with a 11/28 cassette, but a compact 50/34 up front, but I would think the only difference would be chain length. It will handle the 11/28 cassette, no problem.

Answer:
Unfortunately the Shimano Ultegra 6700 rear derailleur is listed with a Max cog size for the cassette as a 28t only so we could not this for use with a 12 – 30t cassette. We could not guarantee optimized shifting performance with this rear derailleur.

We only have the following rear road derailleur that would suit for use with a 30t max cog size:
Shimano Tiagra 4601 10 Speed Rear Mech

I would recommend the Medium Cage size.
