The Ultegra 6800 series is "pro-proven" as it is a direct trickle down from the Shimano Dura Ace groupset. It stands for state-of-the-art technology, proven in pro races, the technology used in the new Ultegra 6800 series with 11 speed, newly designed brakes, new chain treatment etc.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Fantastic upgraded these from a 10speed shimano 105 (5700) The brakes are stronger, the shifts are quicker and smoother, especially the front derailleur, less finger effort to shift. Engagement is really smooth. Front derailleur doesn't rubs the chain as often as the 105 during "big-big" gear combos.. really nice. Both jockey wheels on the rear derailleur are with ball bearings, didn't expect this on an ultergra specced. Nice.. I recommend downloading the dealer's manual from shimano's website if you wanna really set it up properly. There are more tuning options than the 5700. 14 September 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Shimano Ultegra 6800 11 Speed Groupset just brilliant. I have upgraded my componets from105 (10speed) on the BMC street racer after 2years communting 34miles a day. The improvement with the gears and Brakes on the Group set (11 speed) is brilliant. The gear change is smoother and quicker it has improved my times by over 5 mins. The bottom bracket is very good the peddling is smoother and a lot easier, I can feel the improvment by far. The brakes are very good and more responsive in the dry and wet. Highly recommed as price is very good as well. I hope to get 3 years out of this set.. 28 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Why buy anything else! I've had an Ultegra Groupset before but the 6800 stuff is outstanding. Looking at it bit by bit:- Shifters - great shape, really comfortable hoods and amazing light action - especially the front mech up shifts. Mechs - they look grate and work brilliantly. The longer pivot arm on the front mech is really effective and at the back it's spot on every time even when you need to drop a gear under load. Cassettes - I have the 11-28t and the ratios give you all you need paired with a compact chainset. Chainset - seriously chunky crank arms look great and are really light - if there's any flex you can't feel it in the real world. Brakes - wow, quite amazing power and feel. I know there disc brake options coming through but I can't see why. Overall this really is a 5/5 groupset and I cant see why you'd but anything else. The only minor is that there are no instructions so set aside a bit of time to install the Groupset as it does take a bit of setting up to get it running smoothly. 23 July 2014

My only niggle is that the front derailleur is very narrow, however with a little fine tuning it's not really an issue. 25 May 2014

Rated 4 out of 5 by Worthy upgrade I tried from a 9 spd(sora) to a 10 spd(105) to my ultegra 6800 It works great, good shifting. II am even able to shift under load when I go uphill, and it doesn't give a clunky sound like my 105. Not to mention, the aesthetics, it look great. The shifters beats the 105 with its sleek designing The brakes work great also,responds really. My only thing is the chainset. Well, compare to the dura ace, the ultegra groupset seems like it has a little more to upgrade on its aesthetic, but other than that it works fine Lastly, the price range is so affordable, at 11 spd, and it is at only 450 pounds? Its a worthy buy compared to the other brands of groupset. Can't ever go wrong with shimanos 01 May 2014

Braking, rear shifting, front shifting (this is properly good), cables, hood comfort, everything Even the ability to change chainrings to any combination using the same BCD is brilliant. Why has no one done this before I wonder? Can't fault it. And for the price I paid (£430) it is outstanding value 25 April 2014

To run a 53/34? Yes, It is possible as they are both 110 BCD.

That would be a big jump up front though. Not sure how good it would be in practice

They don't offer 53/34 as a standard option, you'd have to buy 53/39 then pick up a 34 as a single part (which can be done for £25)

Have you considered 53/36? That's a standard option available in some places

Since CRC is not prepared to swap the 11-25T cassette in the groupset options with the desired 11-28T cassette, I have a question whether it is possible to buy a 11-28T sprocket instead (cheaper than buying another 11-28T cassette) and replace one of the sprockets in the 11-25T cassette with this 11-28T sprocket, so as to obtain the desired 11-28T cassette for the 11-speed groupset.

Do you sell a 11-speed 11-28T sprocket at all?

Perhaps, the problem can be resolved if CRC allow purchase of the groupset without the cassette, and allow the buyer to purchase separately a 11-28T cassette so as to enable him to obtain his desired combination of 170mm length 53-39T crank and 11-28T cassette (which option is now out of stock).

This groupset is supplied with a Short Cage rear derailleur (28t capacity) so if you wanted to run an 11-32 cassette you would need to fit a medium cage derailleur as well

Gears or brakes?

Gears: yes. Right shifter operates rear mech. Left shifter operates front mech

Brakes: up to you! When you install, either feed the front brake to the left or the right lever, it will work fine either way. Same for rear obviously

Cela est conçu pour Shimano 11 vitesses uniquement, il ne sera pas compatible avec un goupe 10 vitesses. Il y a dans ce groupe tous les éléments nécessaire cependant, il vous faudra une roue arrière 11 vitesses compatible pour ce groupe.
