Shimano Ultegra 6800 11 Speed Road Cassette

It’s not often a cassette is the most significant component in the release of a new groupset, (well, for a year at least, since the launch of Dura Ace 9000), but the extra sprocket on this new Ultegra cassette will be a welcome addition for riders seeking wider ratios.

The CS-6800 will offer plenty: 11-23, 11-25, 12-25, 11-28, and a whopping 11-32. The broad choice supports a concept Shimano calls a “rider tuned drivetrain”, offering ratios they believe are appropriate to cycling’s four major riding types. While its possible to achieve broad ratios from 10-speed set-ups (SRAM’s Wi-Fli offers 11-32, after all), doing so from 11 speeds should reduce the gap between each sprocket.

  • Weighs 212 grams - 11-23

Rated 4 out of 5 by Good value SHimano product Used a shimano 6800 groupset, and by far this is the most affordable cassette on CRC which I found. Comparing to the other 11 spd groupset, this is good value and does what is needed. got the 28-11 combi, works well for my climbs 27 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent cassette, works well with Dura-Ace components I bought the 11-28t cassette for hill climbing courses as my 11-25t Dura-Ace cassette was a bit over-geared. All the rest of my components are Dura-Ace, but I couldn't justify the price of a second cassette at twice the price of Ultegra. It works very well, there is no detectable difference in gear changing. Looks well too. 18 July 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by it does make a difference shimano recommend matching your components within the same groupset. some people say this is just shimano trying to sell their expensive components over other cheaper components that work just as well. My experience is that matched running gear works a whole lot more smoothly and efficiently. 28 February 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Well made - good gearing range Coming back into cycling after a 20-year lay-off and with knees offering up a horrible legacy of mad, mad mountain biking days(!), I'm embarrassed to say that I found the 28-11 (28-25-23-21-19-17-15-14-13-12-11) gearing supplied on my new bike just a bit too tough on the bigger hills. So I purchased the 32-11 to give me one extra bail-out cog (32-28-25-22-20-18-16-14-13-12-11). In my haste to fit it, I forgot to weigh it - sorry! However, the 28-11 cluster tips the scales at 242g, so I guess the 32 will be around the 250-260g mark. You will need the long cage (GS) rear derailleur for the 32 - the short cage (SS) only goes up to 28. Also, I had to go a couple of links longer on the chain - from 106 to 108 links in my case. (I bought a new chain.) Now it's fitted, that extra gear makes all the difference, and I quite like the middle gears in the cluster, too (where I tend to ride the most on my 50/34 chainset). everything seems to shift just as smoothly, even though it's quite a big jump from the 28 cog to the 32. 09 February 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by prodotto buono ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo è solamente qualche grammo in più rispetto alla cassetta dura ace ma costa molto meno. 22 January 2014

Answer:
You should be able to. If you have the short rear mech (the SS), it has enough chain wrap for up to a 28 sprocket. However, you may need to increase the length of your chain to account for the extra 3 teeth. It'll probably only need 1 or 2 links. I would suggest you get a whole new chain as it's never a good idea to add 'new' links to an 'old' (used) chain.

Answer:
An 11-28 cassette will be fine to run as long as a minimum of a Medium Cage derailleur is being ran within the drivetrain.

Answer:
Nope - you'll need to go to the 'GS' long/medium cage rear mech. I've successfully done just this - but note that in order to achieve the chain wrap, you'll also need extra chain length. In my particular case, I added a couple of extra links in the chain - 108 links as opposed to 106. The front mech is unaffected by such a change.

Answer:
Mavic use their own freehub size, which is wider than a standard 8-10 speed one. This means all 8-10 speed cassettes need the Mavic spacer provided with the wheels, while the 11 speed Shimano cassettes don't need it. You should be able to remove your 10sp cassette and spacer, and replace it with an 11 speed cassette.

Answer:
Converting a bike to 11-speed will involve swapping over the entire drivetrain (shifters, crankset, chain, cassette, derailleurs, shifters etc.), likely also including the rear wheel.

Answer:
Unfortunately this combination would not be compatible.

A Campagnolo cassette is required to run on a Campag Freehub Body; this is purely due to the spline interface which differs from the Shimano spline pattern.
