Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 16 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Size +1 Really good shoe. I have normal shoe size EU 42. I took 43 for these. So look the size guide for this model. no complains, feels light and strong. no problem with venting for me. Has very good grip on steep terrain. i would prefer if some Traction Studs come along as well 25 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great fit Really nice shoes - I bought them in my normal size and they fit perfectly! 30 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great fit, not too narrow I usually have trouble with the general narrowness of cycling shoes due to being the not so proud owner of a considerable bunion on my right foot but these fit great. Comfortable on the right and not too loose on the left. I followed recommendations and went a size up. First experience of a ratchet closure system and completely sold on it. The shoes open wide making them easy to get on (unlike my Shimano winter boots). Lack of venting for me is a good thing as I never suffer from hot feet on the bike but do feel the cold - temperature-wise these have been perfect so far. 22 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love these shoes. Had these about a year. They stand up well to UK riding, much warmer than having meshes over your toes. Also ridden in temps up to 32C (in France - not UK evidently). A bonus of the lack of mesh is that you can clean them really easily / well (if your into that kind of thing). I wear these on my mountain bike and my road bike, using with XTR trail pedals (which I love too). Good stuff and great quality. I am a euro 44 in normal shoes, but find the shimano 45 fits well. 09 December 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by

Rated 5 out of 5 by Comfy, Stiff and Weather Proof If you are looking for a winter shoe and dont want a pair of those monster boots then this is the shoe for you. I was looking for a nice stiff pair of MTB shoes with no mesh on them. I wanted to use them for winter commuting and needed something that wouldnt let in water. I was coming from a pair of old sidi dominators that had seen better days. Anyway, am i happy, yes. These shoes are very stiff and the synthetic uppers are very weatherproof, obviously water will still get in at the top if its really chucking it down. They're quite narrow but not overly. I'm a UK 9.5 usually and had a pair of 44.5 Dominators, these are a perfect fit. Very comfortable although my only 'complaint' would be the thin inner sole. I'm going to try the Specialized BG Sole to see if it makes them a little more comfy. 05 June 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Review of; Shimano XC50N MTB SPD Shoes 2013 I have always used Shimano or Lake cycling shoes over the last twenty years of riding mountain bikes. The uppers are pretty stiff, perhaps because they’re also only a few months old, so hopefully they loosen up and become more supple like my old Shimano MO87’s, who’s uppers are quite pliable. The shoe is well built and designed, but that’s a trait for Shimano. I live in Calgary and have been riding with these shoes in -12oC without over-boots. They just about keep my feet warm, but then again that’s cold to be on a bike. These shoes have a fairly comfortable insole. One point that’s really apparent is that they do not transmit the cold from the pedal, through the cleat and inner sole like the MO87’s. Also, because there’s no mesh the cold air cannot get inside. As for water resistant; they’re not really. The first ride I did was with them was in sleet and my feet were definitely wet and cold, but that was an extreme day and really bad weather. The studs are a great feature and will be invaluable in the spring when the trails are muddy and slippery. The sole is somewhat harder than the MO87’s so you have to be careful on wet rocks and ice. There are no doubt better MTB cycling shoes out there but for this price and the quality you’ll be hard pushed to match this package. 26 December 2012

What does the "N" mean in the description??

I currently have a size 42 shoe and wanted to make sure the N does not alter the size or width of the fitting???

Answer:
The N in the title is nothing more than the model name.
It doesn't change the how Shimano size their shoes.

Answer:
I don't know what the "N" actually means but can assure you these shoes are not particularly narrow. I have a bunion on my right foot so need a more relaxed width - these fitted me perfectly (a size up from usual though as other reviewers have said)

Answer:
Looking at these a size 40 is approximately 600gm.

Cleats don't come with shoes, only pedals.
