Rated 5 out of 5 by its good for everything Got it laced up to a sun rims double wide for dh runs great for the price 20 September 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Не порадовала, треснула ось после недели катки. По началу было весьма не плохо, но потом становилось все хуже, в геометрической прогрессии накапливалась грязь и песок, пыльники не особо спасают, также очень боится воды. 20 May 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing performance without bling bullshit I have used many of these hubs over the years and they are all still in service on my different wheel builds: XC, AM and even FR. The cup/cone bearings outlast any sealed cartridge bearing from the other hubs that I have owned (and still own), including the famous and expensive variety. The axles are far stiffer and stronger for a given diameter than those of most of the competition. In fact I have to use Shimano Saint type 10mm hollow alloy axles to get the same stiffness and rigidity on other makes of rear hub... They need extra greasing and resetting from new, but if you take the time to do this initial reset properly - then you are good to go for years... But don't forget to check them occasionally! They will see off more than one set of rims if you ride hard. They remind me of the old Campagnolo Super Record cup/cone bearings that would go on forever... If you are a keen biker on a tight budget and you know how to handle a cone spanner - then don't think twice. Old fashioned common sense that makes the new "bling bling" hubs not only look a real consumer rip off - but also make them appear to be economical and ecological madness. Vanity vanity... 18 February 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by very good hub! Shimano as always coped with their task and created an excellent cross-country bush. 13 January 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Shimano XT HUB REAR With regular maintenance these hubs will go for many a long hard mile.Unsophisticated but practical and good value for WEEKENDERS and OLD CODGERS like myself. My first choice for building wheels as it allows the inclusion of decent rims if on a tight budget....which a lot of us now are . 02 August 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good, rubber mud shield on left side should be more durable Has worked for me pretty well for at least couple of years, some of it winter riding in Finland. The left side outer rubber mud shield started cracking pretty soon, should be more durable for the price. However it has not yet cracked all the way through and the first problems I had with the hub started only now, and with the other side (freewheel side), so the break side rubber has still managed to keep the dirt out. Probably managed to still save the hub by changing the lubricant in the bearings. Comes with CroMo axle which is nice if used in extreme conditions. Warning: If you service this yourself, DON'T pry the rubber mud shield off with a screwdriver on the left side, you risk damaging the inner metallic dirt shield! This happened to me, however I managed to somewhat bend it back and it still has worked fine with no contamination on the left side. 02 May 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Rubbish Got this hub to replace a Halo supadrive...it's lasted just over a year before the drive side internals decided they'd had enough. Shimano's usual quality missing here, especially for XT, despite the good price. 22 April 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by 15 January 2012

Answer:
Research has shown that the Specialized Status 2012 uses a 'bolt in' rear axle, as this hub uses the Quick Release system; it may not offer the low flex levels that you require.

The hub weighs approx 430g.

Answer:
Yes.

8-, 9- and 10-speed cassettes all have the same total width - the sprockets are just closer together the more of them there are.
