Rated 5 out of 5 by the best! assolutamente magnifico: preciso, leggero, ha un prezzo abbordabile, nettamente superiore a prodotti di gamma inferiore ma di poco inferiore al top di gamma. credo sia il giusto compromesso tra qualità e prezzo! 29 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice cassette for the money I brought this so I could run a hope T-Rex . Very high quality cassette for the money. My lbs wanted to charge me £69.99 for one of these 25 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Ligero y resistente Piñones 11-36 de poco peso. Con dos grupos con araña y el resto de los piñones sueltos. Envio en una caja de carton de chain que protege bien. 24 March 2014
Consigliato!!! 17 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Keeps shifting crispy As you would expect from Shimano MTB components its all round quality and I've found the XT group set and cassettes in particular very hard wearing for the weight! I've had 1800+ miles out of a 9 spd on my XC bike and it did two grotty winters in mud etc. At these prices you'd be silly not to get a few. 12 March 2014

Answer:
The 4600 10sp Tiagra rear derailleur only runs a 30t maximum sprocket capability so you may have trouble setting one up to run a 32t cassette effectively. The largest cassette ring should only be a 30t (or 28t if running a triple with a 52t front ring).

Answer:
Yes, the 2012 LTD ran a standard Shimano/SRAM style 10sp cassette, so this XT M771 should be fine. If you are replacing the cassette with one of the same size you should be ok to continue using your existing chain (although it is generally considered good practice to install a new chain with a new cassette/ chainrings to ensure efficient engagement).

It is Hg 93 chain compatible (Shimano XT spec Chain) its to do with the guage of the teeth. The latest batch of 10 spd have Dyna Sys labels on shifters etc so it would make sense the cassetes are too.

As a narrower cassette ratio is replacing the 11-36, this change will perform well and shift smoother.

Answer:
That is a good question. Others may correct me but XT is a model or two up from the SLX range. This leads me to make the assumption that they are stronger, longer-lasting, possibly lighter and on the downside - more expensive. I have just brought an XT chain so I will write a review after a few uses.

Answer:
The main difference is the weight. XT is 50-80gr lighter. They are both made of quality steel, so durability is approximately the same.

Casette Updgrade

I am currently using a Shimano M442 44/32/22 Crankset and am looking for a new casette. I am unsure of the spec of the current Casette so really am unsure as to what teeth on the new one would be optimal? Or even what the differences are between the two. I just want to make sure they are compatible.

Answer:
This is a 10-speed cassette; as the Shimano M442 crankset is for a 9-speed drivetrain, this cassette will not be compatible.

The easiest way to determine drivetrain speed is to count the actual number of sprockets on the cassette itself.

You can only use a 9-speed cassette, either shimano, or sram. The more expensive they are, the lighter they are. The quality and durability as apprx the same.

I currently run a Shimano HG62 cassette 10 speed.
Because the HG62 is on steel carriers, it is chewing free hubs badly.
Is this cassette a fully compatible replacement (alloy carriers) to the HG62 cassette, even though my rear set up is DYNA SYS??
And do you reccomend the XTR HG-X chain to run with it?

Many thanks

Answer:
This is a higher tier Shimano cassette with an alloy spider reducing weight and reduces it eating into the freehub body.

Any of the suggested chains below would be ideal.

Answer:
I've used xt/xtr components before with no issue, the sticking point is possibly the chain.- it depends whether its super narrow guage or just narrow guage You will have to use xt chain possibly. You shouldn't have an issue with your xtr derailieur - I ran my 9spd xtr on xt for 10 yrs without issue (using XT chain cassette and shifters) on my Specialized Epic. Dyna sys is the gear system. XT and XTR both Dyna Sys
