Yeah no problem! That's the exact setup I run.... As long as you got a fairly new chain or a new chain you'll be fine so they bed into each other

Answer:
It should be fine as long as you use SRAM shifters. Any HG-X or compatible 10spd chain is fine too be it KMC SRAM or Shimano. Make sure you get the gear ratio best suited to the type of riding you do.

Answer:
The shimano 10 speed range is all part of their new dina sys branded kit. It refers to the narrower spacing of the cogs on the rear cassette and the ratios over all, along with some improvements in shifting.

You can see further details in the shimano website -http://bike.shimano.com/publish/content/global_cycle/en/sg/index/news/dyna-sys__shimano.html

If your question is will it work with my current MTB 10 speed setup, then the answer is probably yes, but ask another question saying what kit you're wanting to replace if you want to be sure.

Answer:
Yes, the 2012 LTD ran a standard Shimano/SRAM style 10sp cassette, so this XT M771 should be fine. If you are replacing the cassette with one of the same size you should be ok to continue using your existing chain (although it is generally considered good practice to install a new chain with a new cassette/ chainrings to ensure efficient engagement).

Answer:
If your Cube bike is already a 10 speed setup, regardless of whether it is SRAM or Shimano the this 10 speed cassette should work fine. If your cube is 9 speed then purchase a 9 speed cassette. A 9 speed chain will be a little too wide for a 10 speed cassette, plus other compatibility issues with the shifter and derailleur.

Changing to the 11-32 would not be an issue. You may want to shorten your chain by a few links though to account for the smaller large cog.

Answer:
That is a good question. Others may correct me but XT is a model or two up from the SLX range. This leads me to make the assumption that they are stronger, longer-lasting, possibly lighter and on the downside - more expensive. I have just brought an XT chain so I will write a review after a few uses.

The main difference is the weight. XT is 50-80gr lighter. They are both made of quality steel, so durability is approximately the same.

The difference is in the weight. The XT cassette has an aluminium carrier so is lighter than the SLX version. But the difference is small and they both do the same job.

Casette Updgrade

I am currently using a Shimano M442 44/32/22 Crankset and am looking for a new casette. I am unsure of the spec of the current Casette so really am unsure as to what teeth on the new one would be optimal? Or even what the differences are between the two. I just want to make sure they are compatible.

Answer:
This is a 10-speed cassette; as the Shimano M442 crankset is for a 9-speed drivetrain, this cassette will not be compatible.

The easiest way to determine drivetrain speed is to count the actual number of sprockets on the cassette itself.

Answer:
The 4600 10sp Tiagra rear derailleur only runs a 30t maximum sprocket capability so you may have trouble setting one up to run a 32t cassette effectively. The largest cassette ring should only be a 30t (or 28t if running a triple with a 52t front ring).

I currently run a Shimano HG62 cassette 10 speed.
Because the HG62 is on steel carriers, it is chewing free hubs badly.
Is this cassette a fully compatible replacement (alloy carriers) to the HG62 cassette, even though my rear set up is DYNA SYS??
And do you reccomend the XTR HG-X chain to run with it?

Many thanks

This is a higher tier Shimano cassette with an alloy spider reducing weight and reduces it eating into the freehub body.

This cassette has an aluminium carrier so should be kinder to your freehub body and is a good replacement for your current cassette. Regards the chain it is really a lotvto do with personal preference. The XTR chain is a bit lighter, but personally I go for SLX or XT as I find them longer lasting.
