Efficiency was the key principle when designing the Shimano Dyna-Sys XT M781 GS 10-speed rear derailleur. The derailleur was designed with a longer swing arm and a tighter spring for crisper shifting when you want it, and less 'ghost shifting' when you don't. The Dyna-Sys rear derailleur will stay in adjustment longer and deliver consistent performance with each ride.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous Great Derailleur That Does What it Should
This derailleur is awesome. I've been riding it hard for 4 months paired with an SLX shifter. Once I got it set (which took a while) I haven't had an issue with. It's very quiet and smooth. Compared to my old X7 derailleur and shifter pair these ones feel much better! Although the shifting isn't quite as snappy the rear derailleur changes are much smoother (this has to do with srams 1:1 and shimano's 2:1 shifting. This is by far the best performing derailleur I've ever owned plus it's fairly compact (I have the GS model), lightweight, and looks pretty good! I give it four stars because I personally wish Shimano would use slightly faster shifting methods kind of like Srams.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous The Best

The M781 is a slightly updated version which is capable of "direct mounting". This means that the bracket axle assembly (the small plate between the main pivot point and the RD hanger - sometimes also called a 'B2' assembly) can be removed, and the main pivot point screwed directly into a swept back RD hanger.
