Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good so far, but last one failed I'm not sure if crash damage did it in, but my original lever failed hence this replacement. The lever would no longer spring back, seemed to be something going on with the master cylinder. First time to have a Shimano lever go funny on me, will follow up if this one fails. 16 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by THE best brakes for all-round riding. Period. After years of faffing around with original equipment SRAM brakes (Juicys, Elixirs, et al), which needed constant bleeding and never bit as they should, I switched to a set of XTs. Now, every time I get a new bike I remove whatever came as standard and put the XTs on. They just work. The only time I have ever had to bleed one was when I went to shorten a hose when fitting them to a new bike, and accidentally spilt some of the oil. Even then, the bleed was quick, easy, and effective - completely the opposite of an Elixir bleed! For the money, they are truly unbeatable. 17 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Solid equipment I bought the lever to replace a leaking one which had suffered damage. It was easy to assemble and worked a treat right from the start. easy adjustability. Please note, does not come with olive and pin, my LBS got me out of a hole with that one. 10 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic levers Great product and value changed my ZEE levers to these for the reach adjust knob and free stroke screw, both of which i found are essential in my setup. Easy to bleed and if setup right fantastic brakes have them paired with zee calipers and really dont think ive experienced a better feeling and powerful brake. Warning don't come with hose boots that cover bolt the screws into caliper. 07 April 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Replacement I got this because CRC didn't have any right hand levers at the time. It worked out well. All the parts you need are in these lever kits so you can buy it feeling confident that you will be able to replace them easily. 06 February 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by eccellente acquisto e quello che aspetavo un prodotto di prima linea a un costo veramente accessibile ... 02 November 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good lever I just bought one of these levers to replace my broken M810 Saint lever, its a straight swap over and seems to work just fine with the M810 4pot caliper, perhaps even delivering slightly more power over the old M810 lever. It is intended for a caliper with slightly less volume however so I would recommend bleeding with the Free-Stroke adjuster screwed out a bit to put a bit more oil volume into the brake, then screwed back in after bleeding, but even without doing so it has similar pull to the M810 lever - a bargain buy for anyone wanting a well manufactured and reliable brake lever for a Shimano caliper 14 November 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by good feel I have use this level with my old M775 calliper, it works fine, look sleek. Good one-finger reach. Like it. 01 September 2012

I Specs or I Specs B??

On the product page, one photo (black lever, rear view) displays an I Specs B mounting ring, and another photo, (silver lever, rear view), a first generation I Specs mounting ring....

Can you please clarify? There is a big difference between both and I Specs shifters and NOT compatible with I Specs B levers.... as I have only I Specs shifters, I don't want to order any I Specs B lever. In the description you are talking about I Specs compatibility... but I already have the problem one time and received from another online shop a I Specs B lever (see the attached photo)

Thanks. I need the confirmation before ordering.

Answer:
Hi, This item is a I-spec and not an I-spec 'B'.

The new I-spec 'B' shifters/adapters are backwards compatible to the old levers (with a special bolt included with them), but the old I-spec shifters/adapters are not forward compatible to the new levers.

So, these combinations will work:

Old levers with old shifters
New levers with new shifters
Old levers with new shifters

This combination won't work:

New levers with old shifters

Answer:
Thank you Michael for the information and the presales service on the phone :) People should know that when I called you to ask the same question before my order, you had a physical check on the product in your stock to give me the answer. Very good service, thank you.

I've ordered the lever yesterday and received it today in Luxembourg. It is a I-Spec first generation as confirmed. But now I'm also aware thanks to you that I-Specs B shifters will be compatible with I-Specs levers. Good to know if I have to replace a shifter later and can find only I Specs B versions.

Best regards,
Cyril

Answer:
Yes, but where the hose goes in the lever will look a bit different (the newer lever has a different shaped plastic boot, whereas your 775 hoses will have the older narrower style.

Do these levers come with new olives?

Hi,

I'm looking to buy this as a direct replacement for an existing M785 lever (with a snapped blade!). As the hoses fit using a compression olive, does the lever come packaged with a new olive or will I need to source one separately?

Many thanks.

Answer:
Yes, you should be able to combine any Shimano brake lever with any Shimano Caliper; as long as the system uses the same fluid/ oil and is bled correctly it should function fine.

Answer:
They should be: the SLX callipers are almost identical, apart from having a split pin pad fastener, rather than the XTs screw-in pin.

Just be sure to buy levers of the same year as your SLX callipers. Shimano changed the diameter of the hose a couple of years ago (I think 2012???) so the barbs that fit into the hoses were changed too.

Confused about Spec and compatability ?

My current levers (395) don't have a reach adjustment.

I'd like to use these as stand alone bar mounted levers.

Will these work with Shimano BR-395 callipers ?

Thanks

Answer:
These XT levers should work ok with your Acera caliper, yes. The amount of modulation may be greater on the XT levers so they may offer a shorter bite point than the original Acera levers.
