Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Shifting performance After changing to this Derailleur I have had great shifting performance from it. Worthwhile making sure you have a good quality gear cable as this does take quite a bit of force to change to the outer ring and cheap cables will compress. Secondly, make sure you have a large enough washer under the fixing bolt to hold this securely as the aluminium is quite soft and can damadge easily. 24 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Smooth and reliable Shimano never disappoints. Quality on-point, smooth and reliable shifts all the time. 07 May 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Light Another quality Shimano product. I can't fault the XT line for durability and economy of weight. If you look after them they'll keep you shifting smoothly for years. Easy to fit and always with the option of top or bottom pull. 21 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quality as to be expected Good quality product as can be expected from Shimano. 01 November 2013

Yes, this Direct mount shifter should be fine on your Mega AM frame, and will run your 26/38 10sp (DynaSys) setup.

Answer:
I would think so, I have X7 on my Enduro and it has exactly the same mounting screws/fittings on the bike. If you are unsure of the specifics. you can always check your LBS or wherever you bought your Giant from. Its a good time to change now CC has a 'price freeze' on XT. Happy trails!

Answer:
Yes you should be able to mount this mech - without major issues - to your Epic. You may need to change your front 2X shifter on your bars as SRAM and Shimano move different lengths of cable between clicks and as such are not interchangeable. I know this is the case with rear derailleurs so it stands to reason the same applies for the front. Chains and cassettes however are interchangeable and so are chainrings though I'm a bit OCD and prefer to have a matching set!

Is the direct mount front mech equal to the braze-on type? Is this one compatible with both top and bottom pull system? Thanks

This derailleur is compatible with Top and Bottom pull but is known as the Direct Mount (E2) standard and is not compatible with a Braze-On frame.

Answer:
No; these Shimano Direct Mount derailleurs will not fit the S3 mounts. The Shimano E-type derailleurs with the BB loop backplate removed run the same bolt mounting as Sram S3 so you can use a Shimano E2-type mech if you wish
