I checked through your website and cannot see any specific 8sp rear derailleurs. Can I get away with a 9sp or 10sp. Also when it comes to the front derailleurs, does the same apply, do I need to get the front derailleur to be 8sp specific.

Answer:
Due to the variation in chain widths, using a 9 or 10-speed derailleur would not be advised.

The selection of 7/8-speed derailleurs that we stock can be found here -> http://lnk.nu/chainreactioncycles.c....

Note that Shimano and SRAM are not interchangeable so a SRAM Shifter cannot function with a Shimano Rear Derailleur and vice versa.

Answer:
I have an 8 sp system and the STX - RC rear mech snapped. I replaced it with a 9sp Deore, (non shadow) and it works absolutely fine. Probably better than the original. But DONT use 10sp, it will not work.

Answer:
A high clamp (conventional) mech will be fine for a hardtail frame; the low clamp (top-swing) design is usually only required on full suspension frames where the shock linkage results in less room around the cranks for the derailleur to operate.

Answer:
There is shims available for reducing the front dérailleur clamp down for smaller frames. Unfortunately we do not have these available to purchase.

Calling into your local bike shop may be a help as they could have some in a spares box.

Hi guys snapped the inner plate that holds the jockey wheels on my saint derailleur. I believe it is possible to get the plate on it's own as a spare part but can't find it on your site.

Would you have one?

Its a 9 speed Saint (M810?) short cage derailleur

The RD-5700 (sku274766) jockey wheels are fairly universal 11-tooth wheels and should be compatible with XT rear derailleurs.
