Soft Instep 2 - The anatomical and comfortable strap, placed on the top of the foot and coupled with a soft and thermo-formed material, will increase comfort and performance. It distributes pressure evenly over the arch area, adjustable from both sides to achieve the perfect center position. The system eliminates the need for the High Instep Extender. The Soft Instep Closure System is serviceable and replaceable.
Tecno-II system - Tecno II buckle uses monofilament line and a fine-tooth ratchet for smooth adjustment and even pressure distribution Allows frontal micrometric closure and adapts the upper of the shoe to the shape of the foot for a customised fit. The Tecno II system can be easily replaced and serviced.
High Security Velcro - High security Velcro straps with integrated locking polymer teeth , that engage onto each other when the strap is closed. This feature makes the closure more secure and the strap becomes unmoveable.
Rubber toe - Upper part of the toe section is rubberised to resist and deflect impacts from stones or debris when cycling. It is made with anti-slip rubber.
Adjustable heel retention device - The adjustable heel retention device reinforces the top of the heel cup and improves the fit by closing the back of the shoe securely around the rider’s ankle. The heel retention device tightens the top of the heel cup so that it doesn’t side-out during steep climbs or sprints. It can be adjusted with two small screws that work independently from each other. For a custom adjustment turn the screw towards the sign to tighten the heel retention device and towards the – sign to open it.
Sidi heel cup - The reinforced heel keeps the foot in a optimal position and avoids the shoe being deformed by extreme performance or prolonged pressure.
MTB SRS Carbon Sole - The heart of the revolutionary and patented Mtb Srs carbon sole is a pure carbon insert reaching from the heel to the toe. The carbon insert as well as the replaceable Dragon SRS tread are bolted to a narrow, durable nylon frame. This unique design provides a slight amount of flex in the toe while retaining excellent stiffness and power transfer in the body of the shoe. The sole is engineered for the high-performance, high-mileage cyclist who requires a sole that is rigid but does not compromise the foot’s blood circulation, guaranteeing excellent comfort and great performance. In order to achieve maximum shoe life the carbon inserts as well as the Dragon SRS tread are easily removable and replaceable. In addition an optional toe guard can be installed using the same screws as the insert. A polyurethane anti-slip insert has been positioned in the Metatarsus area. The sole’s inserts and the screws are available as spare parts. It is toe spike compatible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous Excellent shoe, as you would hope for the price
Firstly, if you already own a pair of Sidi shoes and were wondering about sizing - these are the same as their Ergo 2 and 3 and a tiny, tiny fraction shorter than the old Eagle 5s. In summary, buy the same size Sidi shoe you always do - there is no need to worry about fit.
The quality of the shoes is first rate as you would expect. The leathery material appears tough and doesn't appear to scratch easily (based on a few rides and me trying to stick my fingernail into it as a test). The Tecno 2 buckle on these is a material twine rather than the clear 'fishingline' on my road Ergo 2's but does the same job and seems to work just as well. Getting the shoes to fit and feel comfortable is very easy.
The main feature for me is the adjustable heel cup. Some people don't feel the need for them but I definitely do! I like my heal nice and snug without slipping and having these set up right means I don't need to have the rachet across the top of the shoe crazy tight. I have worn Shimano shoes before which felt great without the adjustable heelcup device - but they wore out after 2 years, whereas the Ergo 2's I replaced them with are still going strong years later.
The cost is high and if justifying cost to yourself is important then I suggest looking at alternative brands or lower models of Sidi shoes. I don't think these are twice as good as a $200 shoe but I do think they will last at least twice the lifespan.
These don't come with screw in toe studs which I think is stupid - for the price they definitely should be included. The soles are replaceable and are feel softer than my Eagle 5's - but apart from wearing out quicker I can't see what advantage that could possibly give me!
Protective toe box on the front means bashing my foot on a rock doesn't instantly scratch the leather of the toes and make a new pair of shoes look old. Shoes feel very comfortable straight away - they seem to have a little more padding on the upper than my Ergo 2 which is good when riding in the cold.
If you can get these on sale, then do it. The quoted "full RRP" is absolutely ridiculous - and I've NEVER actually seen them sold for that expensive, even here in Australia. The quality of the shoe is exactly as you would expect/hope. I am happy I bought them but accept they may not be for everybody.
