Spank Spike Flat Pedals

The Spike Flat Pedal achieves an ultra-thin 12mm thickness without compromising a closed axle design or ultimate strength, by utilizing a cold forged pedal body and special scandium enriched, hollow taper steel axle, paired with a thin walled IGUS outboard bushing. The results are improved pedalling and cornering clearance, lowered center of gravity, reduced "pedal flip" effect, and improved pedalling efficiency as the rider's foot is brought closer to the center axis of the pedal. Chamfered leading and side edges also improve the pedals ability to glance over obstacles and reduce impact forces. Oversized, full compliment, industrial sealed inboard bearings slam flush with crankarms to reduce leverage on the bearing unit while at the same time reducing Q-factor, which further improves pedalling efficiency and rider positioning. Finally the extra long 90+cm2 platform improves grip and support, while further reducing the "pedal flip" effect during climbing or aggressive pedalling. The Spike Flat is truly a revolution in pedal design!" ~ Gavin Vos {Designer ~ Spank Cofounder}

Rated 1 out of 5 by Not impressed for £98! Not impressed with these pedals. They have great grip, but the bearings are rubbish. Upon first receipt they felt rough. I sent them back after 4 rides through normal winter use to have the bearings changed, they came back silky smooth. Now after 6 summer rides or so they have completely seized again. I read mixed reviews on these late last year, I should have stayed away, save some money and get DMR v12’s, much better quality. 09 July 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Not quite there yet Overall this is a good pedal, but there are other pedals out there with the same grip, but not the bearing issues. The bearings and bushings wore very quickly, it lets the pedal down. Its a shame because everything else on the pedal is perfect. Spank are somewhat new to the scene though, so i expect they will improve on this. I've owned these for about 2 years, will go to point one racing podium 2's next, rather than rebuild these. 05 July 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Huge amounts of grip Huge surface area results in a huge amount of grip. Great looking pedals with very low profile. Inboard bearings don't last very long in U.K conditions. Bearings hard to come by. Pins stay put even after loads of DH use. Reasonably low weight compared to competition. 01 July 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Good grip - poor quality Had these pedals for about 18 months now, first of all the grip is good but for £100+ it should be good. The bearings on these pedals are like cheese, 1st set lasted 3 months and I sent the pedals to spank to have new bearings put in under warranty, they said I must have got a bad pair, well some 15 months later I have went through 3 sets of bearings and at £40 a pop that ain't cheap, I refuse to spend any more money on bearings and am in the process of using the pedals till they self destruct, my next set will be superstars. Upshot is that if you want a set of pedals and expect them to last buy something else. 29 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Lots of grip Although quite pricy, they have a very solid construction, heaps of grip and are low profile. 17 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Made me move to flats After years of riding cleats, these were the pedals that convinced me to move to Flats. I put these on my Mojo, and I've loved every minute! Huge platform, more studs than you can shake a stick at, and ultra thin design combine with a profile that avoids hits and snags. They are tricky in shuttles, and one or two users have reported durability issues - but I haven't experienced those myself after six hard months in some filthy UK winter conditions. There are cheaper pedals to be sure - but they just don't look like this! I'm going flat on two of my other bikes - and I'm going to be fitting Spank Spikes! 10 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very smooth and strong These are definitely the best pedals I have ever used. The foot area is nice and wide with plenty of adjustable grip. I like that they stay where you leave them and don't spin uncontrollably which is great for when your feet leave the pedals. A lot of people think the more pins you have the better the grip, this is wrong. Its all to do with where they are placed so that parts of your footwear can sink in between the pins. These pedals prove that very well. 25 January 2014

The picture of the green pedals looks emerald green on here but on any other pictures of the green version elsewhere on the internet they are more of a lime green.
Which shade of green are they?
