Speedplay Zero Stainless Pedals

The performance features of the Speedplay Zero Pedal System read like a pro racer's wish list. No other pedal system comes close to offering the superior adjustability or cutting-edge performance features of the Zero. By thinking "outside the box", we created and patented the most technically advanced pedal system ever, featuring your choice of either a fixed position or up to 15 degrees of micro-adjustable float. Once you compare the features of Zero pedals to any other brand, you'll find that other pedals systems are no match. And like all Speedplay pedals, we accomplish this without compromise by ensuring that the locking edges of our pedals and cleats are made of metal, not plastic. What more needs to be said? How about Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, Paris-Roubaix, Amstel Gold, Paris-Nice, World Time Trial Championship, Tour of Germany, Tour of California, Tour de Georgia, Hawaii Ironman World Championship and the countless other races that have been won by champions using Zero pedals. Speedplay Zero Pedal Systems are simply the winningest road pedals on the planet.

Speedplay Zero Stainless Pedals Features:

  • Dual-sided entry: The symmetrical double-sided pedal self-locates just by stepping down into the cleat whether the pedal is right side up, upside down or anywhere else in its rotation. No kicking, no fumbling, no looking; just step down and go.
  • Your choice of micro-adjustable float or a fixed position: The Zero allows rotational float to be precisely micro-adjusted to the exact range needed or set in a fixed-position anywhere within the 15-degree adjustment range.
  • All three foot-axis adjustments can be set independently of one another: No other pedal system offers the precise adjustment or convenience of independently adjustable fore-aft, side-to-side, and rotational foot positions. Unlike the inexact set-up of traditional cleats, each of the three critical foot-axis adjustments of Zero cleats can be set or changed without affecting the position of the other two adjustments. This feature also eliminates guesswork and misalignment when replacing cleats.
  • The lowest stack height: The Zero cleat positions your foot closer to the top of the spindle for improved power transfer.
  • 11.5 mm stack height for 3-hole mounting
  • 8.5 mm stack height for 4-hole mounting
  • Unbeatable cornering clearance: The thin pedal profile of the Zero pedal lets you power through corners where your rivals coast.
  • Phenomenal light weight: Stainless pedal each - 103g
  • Zero cleats per pair - 70g
  • Large, stable pedaling platform: The Zero Pedal System provides the same solid connection as conventional single-sided pedals, but with Speedplay's unique, inverted design the cleat provides the platform once the cleat is engaged.
  • Quality without compromise: Zero pedals use precision cartridge and needle bearings - three of them instead of two found in most other pedals - which allows the Zero to be thinner for a lower stack height, better cornering clearance, and reduced aerodynamic drag. Like all Speedplay Pedal Systems, the locking edges of Zero pedals and cleats are metal-on-metal for durability and safety, unlike our competitors who use engagement edges made of plastic.
  • Fits more shoes: The Zero cleat fits any shoe with a 3-hole or 4-hole mount.
  • Easy maintenance: A built-in grease port for easy bearing lubrication.
  • True locking mechanism: The Zero's locking mechanism does not rely on spring tension for security, so entering and exiting Zero pedals is easy, but unintended release is virtually impossible.

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by I don't like them I don't find these pedals great at all. I had so many people recommending me these for being easy to clip in and out but the truth is, they're not. I think the description on quick release ones saying that they're for beggining cyclist is misleading as it should rather state that lightweight riders will just find them better. I simply cannot clip in those and the amount of time it takes to do so is just frustrating. I know clipping in any new pedals isn't easy but these are just horrible. I defintely wouldn't recommend these pedals to riders under 60kg as they will struggle. Money down the drain. 29 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Pedals For Me Anything that has to do with one of the 3 points of contact with the bike is going to have a personal preference and subjective nature to it because we are not all the same. I'm 190cm, 92kg, ride 1,000+ km/month, have knees that have taken a beating with years of skiing and ice hockey, and my NP is 270W+. I've got several sets of Speedplay Zero's, both Titanium and Stanless, I've used all the major pedal/cleat systems for road use and for me these are the best. The high degree of float keeps my knees happy and the double sided entry makes urban riding less of a hassle. If you maintain them properly they will go for a long time, I've got a set with over 30,000km on them that haven't been rebuilt yet. You do need to grease them though and I strongly suggest you buy the Speedplay grease gun. It's a little pricey but worth it. Regular greasing is a 5 minute task, ignore it at your peril, but that is true for any pedal system, don't maintain them and you will trash the bearings and spindles in any pedal. The cleats mount easily and although Speedplay recommends replacement every 5,000km, I routinely get 10,000 out of mine by keeping them clean and lubed despite having to deal with a lot of stoplights to get to the open road. I also recommend using the stainless wear shims that mount between the cleat ant the sole plate. 24 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best switch I made For a long time I had ridden on Crank Bros pedals, because it was easy to clip in and out, but then I upgraded to a road bike and moved onto road pedals, I tried a few brands out and was riding on Time iClic for a while, but they kept breaking and the cleat wear was beyond a joke (new cleats every month). I finally got fed up and decided to move over to the Zero Speedplay. I absolutely love them, best pedals I have ever owned. They have all the benefits of an MBK pedal (2 sided clip in) and all the power of a road pedal. Only down side would be the constant maintenance, but it's worth it to be honest and I can live with that. Also because of the size I don't mash the pedal into my legs which is a nice feature, and no sharp edges. 12 September 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great concept Ok, I read ALL the reviews and took a long time to decide on getting these. They are a very solid clip in pedal. They do however take a long time to get set up correctly. I found that things like cleat position (fore/aft) and float angle took me awhile to settle on. But now that I have they are a very solid pedal and I do like them a lot. Only 4 stars, because they should come with the grease gun as standard. 11 September 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Great concept, great quality ! 03 May 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Takes a little getting used to. Had the speedplays for a couple of months now. Overall they feel OK and quite solid once clipped in. Found they definitely take a little practice in terms of clipping in and out. Thought they would be easier to get used to as I was previously running shimano SPDs (Similar action). Clipping OUT is easy however clipping IN can be trickier than you think. If you're not careful and miss the target you'll slip off the cleat and de-crotch yourself. The smooth metal surface on the cleat along with the smooth carbon fibre soles of the shoes means you can slip right off the pedal. A bit embarrassing when trying to get off to a fast start off the traffic lights. With a bit of practice eventually you'll get the target right. Otherwise make sure you've had your children before buying these. As a precaution I stuck some thin, hard waring, rubber strips on the sole of the shoe just behind the cleat to catch the pedal if I miss the target with some force. That way I can pedal out and buy time to re-sit the pedal. Seems to be working. BTW, if you want to protect your cleats from extreme wear and tear then buy the accessory "cafe covers". A pain to have to carry but saves your investment. Good luck. 08 June 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Simply the best! I have been using these pedals for the best part of a year now and I can honestly say that they out perform any other pedal I have tried to date in every department. Cleat positioning is simple and even on the first installation they felt super comfortable. I was able to further fine tune the position of the cleat to make them feel even better which is something I cannot say about other brands with standard cleats. The ability to adjust the amount of float and to fine tune the release angle independently for each foot is an excellent feature. The act of clipping in is completely intuitive due to the double sided entry of the pedal and the superior design of the cleat engagement system, why hasn't anyone else thought of this before? If you are a performance oriented rider or even a recreational rider who has suffered from knee problems due to poor cleat positioning then you should put these pedals at the top of your wish list, they are simply that good that once you try these, any other pedal on the market will feel inferior! 22 April 2010
