Simply stronger. The PC 1031 chain benefits from new design changes for better performance.

Technology:

  • PowerLock: SRAM chain engineers developed PowerLock as a tool free, sure and consistent way to connect our 10 speed chains. While PL does not require special tools for install, the especially tight tolerances of 10 Speed drive trains mandated that each PowerLock is good for a one-time application only.

Rated 5 out of 5 Really good 10spd chain for the cost I use this on my shimano zee drive train and it works pretty well, used to use shimano chains but i switched to SRAM chain after breaking 2 shimanos. 15 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by great price and quality this chain came with my giant trance x3 and had no probs with it lasts well so sticking with it 02 February 2014
14 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing price I am normally a Shimano man but, at this price (a third of an XT chain) ive gone for the SRAM and very happy 09 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by buena relacion calidad-precio muy buena cadena por el precio que cuesta.llego en 5 dias 07 January 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by good value chain This was the chain that came with Anthem X3 and it finally broke after 15 months of regular use on rough track, mud, sand and rock. Considering it's a ten speed chain I guess it has done really well. Where I live all the tracks are steep hill climbs and drops so I have no complaints. Yeah, we all want a chain to last forever but that won't happen with MTBs will it, not if you're using them properly. 04 January 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good chain, expensive though Not much to say, really.. the chain itself seems to be pretty ok and solid, although its cost is pretty high. 02 January 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Wears out fast Fitted this chain in august to replace original on bike that one lasted four months, the chain is cleaned thoroughly every two weeks, and dried and lubed with Muc off ceramic lube dry or wet depending on the conditions. Just checked it today with the Park tools chain gauge, guess what needs replacing again. Though to be fair all my rides are in a forest environment with sandstone gritty trails. Not that happy with the amount of time they are lasting. Sram X9 2x10 drive train 08 December 2013

Answer:
This chain will run fine within the XO drivetrain; if weight is a concern then using a hollow pin chain will shave a few grams.

Rejoining Chain

Once this chain has been split at a normal link (not a powerlink connector), can it rejoined with the same pin (like some other SRAM chains), or does one need to use a joining pin (like shimano chains) or new powerlink? It is a similar chain to the shimano ultegra, where one cannot rejoin with the normal pin.

Answer:
Best practice would be to rejoin the chain using a 'Powerlink'. SRAM do not manufacture joining pins for this very reason.
