Competition improves the breed: SRAM Red Double Tap controls break new ground in materials applications and design for even better performance and customized comfort.
Driven by the project’s goal of light weight, higher efficiency and advanced materials, for the second year in a row we’ve created the lightest, most advanced shifter in the world. Built around SRAM’s revolutionary Double Tap technology, the new SRAM Red Double Tap controls are designed to exceed the needs of even the most serious racers. The Red Shifter uses a highly developed version of Double Tap, which is enhanced by new pawl geometry that results in zero-loss travel. Additionally, the Red front shifter mechanism gains a new trim feature to optimize chainring selection. With less effort, Red controls deliver faster shifts, more precisely.
The shifter’s ergonomic design factors in comfort and light weight, with a ground-breaking brake and shift lever reach-adjustment capability that allows you to achieve a more natural, aggressive and comfortable riding position. Additionally refinements in the lever’s design further improve shifting efficiency and performance, as does an even lower weight than its already light SRAM Force counterpart. These refinements include Dual Cable Routing, so no matter what type of bars you use, you don’t have to compromise comfort for performance. SRAM Red Double Tap controls also take advantage of a redesigned trim feature that gives you precise adjustment and greater compatibility with the big ring. While pilling on design upgrades, like longer and optimized control levers and optional cable exit points, Red controls manage to come in almost 10% lighter than Force’s best-in-class weight. For riders who want it all, your next gruppo begins here.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Wouldn't Recommend I see JJ from Australia had a SRAM Rival lever break. I also had a failure with my rear brake lever. The main shift spool inside just snapped when attempting to change up to the large chain ring. I am starting to question the durability of the SRAM components. I have never been very happy with the quality of shift change of the SAM RED finding it to be little better that the Ultegra that I had been using. I'm undecided as yet but may just go back to my old Ultegra set as I don't really believe that the difference in quality of the new is worth the expense. Note: I no longer race competitively so aren't looking for the gain of a couple grams or seconds as are some. 06 November 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Upgraded from Rival I recently snapped a Rival gear lever (should have claimed under warranty...), and decided to upgrade to Red. I really didn't think there would be too much difference, but am really surprised at how much more responsive the Red mechanism is and what a quick clean shift it provides. Definitely happy with the purchase. 25 September 2011

Rated 5 out of 5 by Simply the Best! Forget your fancy Italian Campag gears....who needs 11 speed anyway? These are great to use and setting them up myself I was able to famaliarise the shifting methods straight away. They are really easy to use. I don't mis-shift and now that I have SRAM I would use any other shifters again on my top bike. Better shifting than anything else out there! Seriously recommended!!!! 13 February 2010
