Good component except for premature wear of wratcheting system. Have experienced problem on original and replacement. Getting a year's use in difficult.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous Force is more crisp
I love SRAM and I love the double tap system. These are great, but not as crisp and precise as Force, when used to Force, the shift lever action on Rival seems sluggish and wolly. The price considered Rival is the perfect choice for the bash-up bike.. A bit more comfy ergo feel would be an improvement for both. -I'll be saving up for the 2012 red.. :)

I just took the bike out for the first time today having installed a full SRAM Rival set up while I was incapacitated. The eagerly anticipated run was fantastic. Although I couldn't notch up a major distance, the whole thing was so smooth and quick changing. Brakes were quick, responsive and capable. All gear changes were smooth and immaculate - no gripes there. Shifters, etc - I felt comfortable with them from the first shift and it seamed very intuitive. Easy to adjust to for me from my previous Shimano set up. Great bit of kit.

After the first couple km and few problems getting used the shifters, I am 100% satisfied with them. They are very easy to use and the shifting is accurate and smooth (I am using them with sram force r/f derailleurs). Only 4 stars as I still need to see if the live up the expectations in the long run. But after the first 200km, I am glad I choose them over the S.Force shifters (saved some money as wel :))

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous Great levers
Love these. You wonder why no one else designed these before.
Take a couple of rides to get used to after using Shimano levers, but they now feel so natural.
You can keep hold of the right lever all the time & just flick your wrist or finger to change up or down - great along undulating roads.

Bought a Boardman Team Carbon with rival shifters, and after working out the double tap system on the gear changer everything worked like a dream. The brake lever is exactly that, a break lever.. I had full confidence flying down a steep hill with the very light, but stiff brake levers.. would definately recommend them.. Up there with the best...
