Thanks to its “horizontal parallelogram” design, X-HORIZON can keep the chain gap the same across all 11 gears. By taking vertical movement out of the equation, this design doesn’t just make shifting faster—it reduces shift force and eliminates ghost shifting.
Large upper pulley offset automatically adjusts chain gap
X-HORIZON™ design reduces shift force and ghost shifting
12-tooth X-SYNC™ pulley wheels
TYPE 2 technologies: ROLLING BEARING CLUTCH™ and CAGE LOCK™
Sealed cartridge bearings
Two cage lengths for various applications, including abnormally long chain growth
Speeds 7 speed
Material Forged alloy, composite carbon fiber, titanium, stainless steel
Outer Cage Carbon outer cage
Compatibility 28 tooth compatible
Cage Sizes Short (50mm) cage
X-HORIZON architecture provides more responsive shifting
X-ACTUATION with more cable pull provides better system performance and durability
X-HORIZON eliminates ghost shifting, very commonly found on DH bikes
EXACT ACTUATION (MTB 10-speed) variant allows upgrade to existing bikes in the aftermarket
X-SYNC: A CNC-machined, “wide tooth, narrow tooth” pattern is repeated around the entire XX1 chainring, perfectly mirroring the 1X11 XX1 specific chain’s inner and outer links for maximum control.
ROLLER BEARING CLUTCH: Designed for X0 and X9 families, TYPE 2 rear derailleur delivers maximum drivetrain stability—even through the most punishing technical terrain. With Roller Bearing Clutch™ technology, SRAM TYPE 2 eliminates derailleur bounce and chain slap without sacrificing precision.
CAGE LOCK: With CAGE LOCK™ technology in the rear derailleur, wheel removal and installation—as well as chain installation—becomes faster and simpler. Just pushing the cage forward to create slack and lock it into place.
If you have a Single Pivot bike, choose Medium Cage
If you have a Four Bar or VPP design, then Short Cage will normally be fine
Upon installation of your X01 DH derailleur, follow these simple steps to ensure proper setup:
1. Set the gearing to the largest cog on your cassette
2. Remove the coil or all the air from your rear shock and cycle it through its suspension travel
3. The derailleur cage should never be in a tighter position than “4-o’clock”
4. If it is tighter than “4 o’clock” you will need to add a few links if using Medium Cage or if using Small Cage, you will need a Medium Cage instead.
