1:1 - 1:1 Actuation™ is superior by design. Every unit of cable you pull moves the derailleur the same amount. Actuation stays precise and fluid slogging through mud, bouncing off rocks, rutting through roots — wherever you find yourself, whatever conditions you're in. It's dependable. Tolerant. Easiest to set up. Easiest to adjust. And, not coincidentally, the top choice of the top MTB riders. Got it? Good.
Exact Actuation - When we launched our road technology from scratch we reapplied our MTB proven SRAM 1:1 actuation ratio (shifter cable travel : derailleur movement) for 10 speed rear shifting. EA helps to simplify/stabilize the uneasy act of balancing rear derailleur hanger design, tight cog spacing and exact cable tension. The result: the easiest index shifting system to set up and it stays that way.
MatchMaker Compatible - Save weight and clutter on the bar with MatchMaker. This system holds AVID® levers, a number of SRAM triggers and the RockShox PushLoc control—all with one tidy, light clamp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gravitibikehire2 Great function at budget price
Works virtually the same as the X7, X9 and even the X0. Only main difference is weight saving!! This HAS to be the best mech on the market for people who don't want to spend a fortune, but want outstanding performance

Rated 4 out of 5 by DirtDevil A good, reliable derailleur
I Previously had a X9 derailleur which I unfortunately tore off. I didnt want to sit indoors and wait for my next pay packet to arrive so I borrowed some money of my parents and bought the cheapest one here so I could get riding again. I can't notice any difference in the X5 to X9. Its a little heavier but you wouldn't ever know. A solid derailleur that's cheap to replace if you break/wear it out. Had no issues and setting up was super easy.

Well it's a rear mech, it shifts gears. The springs are a bit soft for the rough stuff so the gears skip when it gets really rough, but that's kind of to be expected. It's easy to maintain, only had to grease it a few times when it gets a little stiff.
Mine is only dead because my chain twisted round a stick, jammed and pulled the mech around the cassette damaging a few teeth and bending the casing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous the long cage version of this model came fitted on my 2010 orange g2 which i used for commuting every day all seasons all weather. In that time i greased the pivots every now and then when i greased the cables and i used the adjuster barrel on the shifter every coupl of months but other than that i have never had to mess with the mech!
since then the orange has died :(
but i salvaged this mech along with the shifter and put it on the new machine!
easy to set up on a new frame and still not letting me down :)
