SRAM Exact Actuation for precise and dependable 10-speed performance. Carbon and alloy cage makes it light and tough - 204 grams for medium cage. 3 cage lengths available - Short for DH, Medium for 2X10 and Long for 3X10.
Direct Route Technology: Here's the dirt on middlemen: they suck. That's why Direct Route Technology™ doesn't have one. Instead, the cable routes directly to the actuation mechanism. Result? Less friction. Less effort. More oomph. Plus it's impervious to cable housing damage. Nice.
Exact Actuation: When we launched our road technology from scratch we reapplied our MTB proven SRAM 1:1 actuation ratio (shifter cable travel : derailleur movement) for 10 speed rear shifting. EA helps to simplify/stabilize the uneasy act of balancing rear derailleur hanger design, tight cog spacing and exact cable tension. The result: the easiest index shifting system to set up and it stays that way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MooPig Precise, accurate gear changes
I bought a SRAM setup for the first time having using Shimano for the entire of my biking life and I must admit despite carefully choosing based on reviews and recommendations I was still a little nervous about how a SRAM X9 setup would compare to my (now ten year old) Shimano XTR/XT setup.
Shifting is precise and quick, even in dry dusty conditions or in wet sticky mud. The 1:1 ratio helps in "feeling" in a gear change if it does get a little picky when the conditions toughen up but I've never missed a change nor have I needed to re-adjust the mech since setting it up when I first installed the drivetrain.
Top tip:- Read the instructions on how to set them up and you'll be fine. If you don't you can spend a good hour or more fiddling with little success as I did. Once I had read what was recommended, it was a five minute job to setup.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Anonymous Huge dissapointment
I am very dissapointed! Everything that made me choose SRAM over Shimano does not aply to this unit. The shifting is inconsistant and the chain hesitates to move, sometimes even without any tension on the chain. I've had sevaral SRAM setups before and I would rather run the old X7 9speed setup than this one!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Anonymous Buy the X0
I have the X9 rear and I dont like it!
I have a lot of issues with gear changes and the accuracy of the unit, I do a lot of XC and AM on my bike and after a couple of hours riding Im doing an hour of adjusting to get this to shift up and down properly without jumping gears or half selecting/grinding.
The X9 is fine if you are on bike tracks around your estate but get serious off road it is poo. I am going to try the X0 and if it is no good I will go back to Shimano XT or XTR

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous The best value rear mech on the market and makes
I have 3 xc bikes
- Gaint anthem xo 29er 2012 (changed out the full xt to Xo)
- Specialized epic expert 29er 2011 (upgrade to full xx)
- Specialized epic comp carbon 29er 2012 (upgraded to x9/xo
I have tried shiamno several times now however the 1:2 ratio gives a lagging feeling when shifting. That is why i prefer sram as it has a 1:1 true ratio meaning that it is fast and more crisp changing. This is noticeable when changing on rough sections.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Anonymous Unreliable
I bought a Nukeproof scalp comp brand new about 7 weeks ago now, and the bike came with this rear mech. The mech was good for the first 5 weeks or so and then it started to have problems. Then all of a sudden yesterday after having it for about 7 weeks when I went to pedal half way down a track coming up to a jump the mech snapped in half and went into pieces which caused me to lose my footing as i couldn't pedal and I went over the bars. I wasn't expecting it at all and so I'd say it's unreliable and weak.
