With multiple World Cup and World Championship victories already in the books, improving the legendary Flow wasn't easy, but input from the best riders in the world and countless hours spent sweating even the smallest of details has led to a rim that redefines what even we thought was possible. The new Flow EX is lower, wider, and meaner, offering a lower profile sidewall and redesigned Bead Socket Technology for maximum durability and tire seal on even the most punishing of technical trails. We kept the weight low, but the new EX offers 14% thicker sidewalls for maximum dent resistance and a 33% thicker spoke bed for added pull-through strength. Increasing the outside width of the rim to 29.1mm and the interior width to 25.5mm let us reshape the bead socket for an even tighter seal and allowed our internal arch to add even more stiffness to the rim's structure. The new Flow EX: the strongest, fastest rolling, and best sealing tubeless rim available for 26-inch, 29-inch and 650b tires sizes just got even better.
All Stan's NoTubes ZTR rims require yellow tape for tube or tubeless use. A tubeless valve is necessary for tubeless use. Tape and valve not included with rims. Please see the individual rim description for details.

I read reviews and people were loving them so I bought one for my rear. I had the normal Stans flow before, It lasted a good 6months before finally giving up in Morzine, which I thought was pretty good since they are feather weight light! The ex is slightly wider and on paper much stronger. In reality, I got a big dirty flat spot on the first ride (yep first ride!) I've just come back from a few days in Wales and now its a full blown egg! Pretty shocking build quality. Lasted an amazing 3 rides.. Stans need to step up their game if you ask me!
I guess for very light xc it would be a good rim, anything else and you will destroy it. These rims are the hardest to get a tyre off that I have ever come across, I was praying I wouldn't get a flat on the trails.
So in summary if you want an extremely soft light rim that poo's its self when you put the hammer down and is awfully hard to take off and put tyres back on, this rim is perfect for you.

Great rim, found this to be stronger than a number of downhill rims and yet also lighter. Stiff, strong and reasonably light.

Got a pair of 29ers. Light and strong rims for all mountain.
Got them recently, so i can't talk about long term durability.
The only issue I encountered is that i needed to re-tighten the spokes after mounting the tires. My guess: the bead seat diameter is so big that the tire compresses it when seated in the beads, making the rim smaller. Not a bad thing, though, it was really easy to mount tubeless ready Hans Dampfs with a floor pump.
