Rated 4 out of 5 by Almost a very good design I agree with some of the comments below about chain suck. The design is almost a really good one, and when the device is working it is pretty much perfect - quiet, well-made, good looking. However, it does occasionally suffer from chain suck, whereby you get an additional half-link of chain between the upper and lower guides. This then jams and the only way to rectify it is to either pedal very hard and force the half-link through the bottom guide, or stop and pretty much dismantle the bash/ring etc. and reset the chain. I've played around with the setup and that helped but it still does it every now and again, which is annoying. What helped was to rotate the back-plate clockwise as far as it will go, and thus move the top guide as close to the 12 o'clock position as possible. What would be good is if you could move the top guide closer to the chain, but the design doesn't allow this - the top guide is fixed - which is a shame. The ultimate solution may be to either modify the back plate in some way to run the top guide closer to the chain, or maybe even to remove the bottom guide altogether (but I'm not sure how it would perform then...) Overall, a good product with an occasional flaw. 13 September 2013
18 April 2013

Rated 2 out of 5 by Beautiful but flawed I was initially attracted to this product based on some positive reviews and the prospect of zero maintenance and smooth operation. The quality of finish on this guide is incredible; truly a beauty to behold. The packaging and instructions are also excellent. Sadly the guide was disappointing in use. The chain was consistently sucked through the lower guide causing a jam. This fault forced me to freewheel 3/4 of a race run; luckily qualified by a second. I experimented with every mounting angle but gave up when the guide jammed consistently while on holiday in Morzine. Eventually I abandoned the device and fitted a Gamut P30. It may not be silent but otherwise its flawless. P.S. The device was definitely fitted correctly. I can only assume compatibility issues arise with Renthal chainrings or FSA gravity chainsets. 16 December 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by Severely disappointed I'm surprised with the number of positive reviews... which was one of the reasons for me to purchase this item. So, b4 i found out the flaws, the product was: - Lightweight - Simple aka low maintainence - Silent The main fault of the product is the lacking of strength of the backplate, particularly the around the lower guide: - chainsuck occurs frequently (every couple of rides) between the guide and the chainring because of the flexibility of the over-lightweight backplate (its not a spacer or chainguide angle problem, cos lbs - a Straitline distributor- and I both made sure of that) - for the same reason (flexible backplate), an extra chain link frequently get in between the upper guide and the lower guide, thus stopping the pedalling when the extra link bunched up in the lower guide. - the final straw - the lower guide was bent and cracked after a bash on a stepdown. other more forgivable niggles: - Alu screws for the rubber snap really easily - broke one on my first ride - not cheap - esp for the above qualities i have experienced - the standard green colour - it should come with color options (or just black as standard) instead of buying replacement rubber for the right colour Total duration from brand new out of the box to broken: 1.5 month - 6 days of shuttle rides. From the reviews and forum chats it seems i'm just the unlucky one. FYI i'm 160lb weekend warrior so its not like i'm goliath flying off 20' drops or anything. Straitline: pls sort out the rigidity/chainsuck/chain jamming problems of the backplate/ lower guide. 23 November 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect This guide is completely silent and functions flawlessly. I'm not a fan of the green but who cares given the perfect form + function. Beats any E13 hands down. 03 November 2011

Does it come with the iscg plate?

I have an Iron Horse MKiii which does not have any iscg mounts, do any of the options have the adapter for fitting onto an external bb?

Answer:
The Straitline Silent Guide is only available in either ISCG or ISCG05 mounting. As you do not have ISCG tabs on your frame you will need to purchase an adaptor in order to fit this guide. The product below would be my recommendation.
