Rated 5 out of 5 by Decent Rims I thrash downhill, and so far these rims have held up pretty well. I wouldn't say they're AS good as Mavic EX729's, but they're not far behind, and at half the price, what's there to complain about? This is probably the cheapest welded rim that you'll find, has decently wide profile for those (like myself) running 2.5" tires, and they're decently light as well. Most importantly, they come in white ;-) 01 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Жесткие обода для жесткой езды Очень жесткая конструкция. Сварной шов, нипеля с пистонами, толстый профиль. Качественная окраска. Very rigid structure. Weld nipple with pistons, thick profile. High-quality paint. 27 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Heavy, tough, excellent rim. I've been building my own wheels for a few years because I'm a bit fussier than my local bike shop mechanics, and with wheels needing truing on occasion I figured it worthwhile to learn to build them from scratch. Last bike overhaul I converted to disc brakes and had ChainReaction build new wheels with this rim. Apparently they're fussier than me because they were true to better than a tenth of a millimetre in box axes, and the tension was uniform tot he limit of my measuring ability. I've had the wheels a year now, and they've done about 6,000 km, mostly aggressive urban but some cross country as well. I'm about 105 kg and I ride with panniers and luggage, and while these rims are intended for downhill I wanted something that absolutely wouldn't fail while touring - like my last wheels did powering me and 35 kilos of luggage up Weldborough Pass in Tasmania. Mission Accomplished. They result in heavy wheels, but I prefer strong to light, and aside from truing and tensioning them twice at 100 km and 200 km when they were new (as required for all new wheel builds) these things have been dead straight and solid all year. Having had them for a year I cannot imagine a circumstance in which you could break them without needing some decent hospital time. They're heavy, as listed in the specs, and properly maintained they're also close to indestructible for the way I use them. They handle high pressure road slicks as easily as large balloon tyres, and the tyre beads seat solidly and security for every tyre I've tried. 28 November 2013

Rated 1 out of 5 by Don't waste your money. I ran these on my DH rig with Saint Hubs and had high expectations. They were S**T. Don't get me wrong, they were good to start with but it didn't last. Constantly running out of true which was just the start. I'm only a novice rider so I don't give the bike a really hard time but being 14st may not help but managed to snap the rear rim clean in half at the weld. Saint Hubs are poo too. Buy Mavic and Hope. 16 April 2012

New to building wheels, and I am aware it's a more difficult than just a straight answer.
I want this specific rim to run with a "hope pro 2 EVO" front hub, and was hoping someone has done this build before, and may know.
The rim: sun ringle mtx 33 26" 32 hole rim.
Hub: Hope pro II EVO 15mm thru axle front.
If someone does know the length spoke that is required, what strength and make is recommended for AM/ light DH/ light free ride.

Answer:
The spoke lengths required for this build are based on a 3-cross spoke lacing for high strength. -

Left - 256mm
Right - 258mm

Due to the nature of the use this wheel will have; DT Swiss Champions are recommended (we mainly use DT Swiss spokes on our wheel builds due to quality).

The spokes come in packs of 18spokes (2 packs needed for this build) and come supplied with chrome plated brass nipples.

Answer:
These rims don't have a specific sidewall braking surface so will not work well with a V-brake setup. You would be best advised to opt for a rim brake ready rim.
