Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent and cheap I have these brakes on my DJ bike and they seem to be working perfectly. Awesome braking power, quite good compared to hydraulics. 25 December 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by frustrating Had hayes 9's on previous bike (stolen) which once learnt to adjust properly never failed. New bike supplied tektro aquila as stock. Do they brake? yes, adjustable yes, but..... To get sufficient braking power (street, dirt etc) you need to be able adjust bite correctly. When this is achieved then brake rubs which creates drag in normal riding. This is because the bite is achieved by moving one pad only, there is enough give in the mounting and the disc to achieve a gap but to do that you need to reduce the braking power. That means the lever is nearly hitting grip to get a lock on wheel. If you find a sweet spot then yes they may work but it can mean a lot of messing around. For many, supplied on a stock bike they may offer enough to care. But you always sacrifice somewhere. Also being a cable you get a spongy feel to the braking which is hard to modulate. There are cheap hydraulics such as juicy 3 which are slightly more but offer so much more. They do what they do reliably but for demanding riding you'll end up considering a hydraulic or going brakeless like a bmx. 01 June 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great value for money I've had Avid bb5 and they both failed on me so I reluctantly accepted a pair of these as a replacement. I surprisingly found after two years of use that these Aquila calipers are wonderful. They stop perfectly every time and are a breeze to instaul if you follow the easy instructions. Thankyou thankyou Tectro for very good reasonably priced set of calipers. 08 April 2011

Rated 5 out of 5 by I tried Avid Juicy 3, 5, Code 5, but decided to turn back to these, which were stock on my bike. Waste some time on tuning and You'll be impressed. Excellent brakes for the price - pretty enough for tough XC. 07 February 2010

Answer:
The caliper can be fitted to front or rear as you prefer. It is supplied as a rear, and so comes with a rear Post-to-IS mount adaptor.
