Thomson Downhill Alloy Riser Bar

  • 780mm wide, 12mm of rise, 6° of backsweep and 4° of upsweep. Built using 7050 Aluminum alloy for strength and long life. 65mm wide clamping area to fit our Direct Mount stem, giving you the most torsional stiffness of any bar/stem combination. 31.8 center section is absolutely straight over a width of 90mm. The long straight section in the middle reduces stress concentrations, especially when using wide Direct Mount stems.
  • Bar is butted and tapered in many steps for optimal fatigue life. Ends of the bar are thickened from 1.4 to 1.6mm to resist damage from impacts and contact with the ground.
  • Bar is produced by advanced CNC bending to avoid the need for hand grinding. Almost all other bars are manually bent and bends are ground to appear smooth. CNC bending ensures very consistent wall thickness and close tolerances, especially in tapered sections. This keeps weight low and fatigue life high.
  • Great fit, the classic Thomson look. The most precise steering bar available.
  • The perfect addition to your Elite X4 Stem or Direct Mount Stem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Underwhelming for the price Was a little bit disappointed with this bar. Having owned some other Thomson kit (stems, seatposts, clamps) the bar looks as though it has been churned out of the same factory that makes countless other bars, it doesn't look as though it's been made in a big shed in America like other Thomson kit. The finish is the usual shot-peened black anodising, the restrained graphics look good and for a 780 mm bar the weight is good but for the price it just doesn't look special enough. The shape is good but then so is my RF Atlas bar, Spank 777 and Nukeproof all of which cost considerably less than the Thomson 05 June 2014
