Thomson Elite X2 Road Stem

The design team for the new Thomson 31.8 stems had a tough goal: make a stem better than the Thomson Elite Road and Mountain Stems. Early tests showed us that our competitors’ 31.8 stems were heavier and weaker than Thomson Elite 25.4 and 26.0 stems. At Thomson our new stems were not done until they were stronger, lighter and longer lived than the legendary Thomson Elite.

The new Thomson X4 for Mountain and X2 for Road allow you to realize the benefits of stiffer forks and stiffer 31.8 bars. They offer precise steering, tracking, and more control while riding, all wrapped up in a beautiful design.

The X2 features a lighter, 2-bolt handlebar clamp. In our testing we found that the 2-bolt handlebar clamp, with its patent-pending interlocking faceplate holds the bar as well as our earlier 4 bolt design. X2 is 50 grams lighter than the 26.0mm Elite and has a lower 36mm stack height. The X2 is ride tuned for the road to eliminate harshness, and has a narrow front end that allows for easier use of aero bars. The Elite X2 is a breakthrough stem and will be a classic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Красивый зараза. Легкий, прочный, красивый вынос. А что еще нужно? Мой вариант 110 длина, 10 градусов угол. 16 October 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wow. Wow, what a fantastic stem. Strong, light, stiff, beautifully made, made a massive difference to my trek 1.2 alpha. Well done Thompson. 16 October 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Original or not? Not sure if this is a genuine Thomson stem or not. Delivered without the normal Thomson stem bag. No warranty papers, Thomson stickers, instructions, anything. The logos on one side of the stem are somewhat out faded / badly etched. An OEM product. Maybe a second grade item. Or maybe a copy. Don't know. 16 April 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Great until it broke I have used thomson stems on all my bikes and they have been fantastic....until the elite X2 I had on my road bike cracked at the stem mount and the handle bar mount. This does not fill me full of confidence. It may have happened due to temperature change but I live in Sydney and it is pretty temperate here. Check your stem carefully before each ride if you don't want your face to look like road pizza! 16 January 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Not light, but rigid I just changed from a Easton EC90 to this, and the bike is transformed. The Thomson is so much more rigid than the Easton it feels like a whole new bike - and you just can't compare the build quality. The Thomson has added about 20g to the bike compared to the Easton, but it is so worth it..... 12 September 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Couldn't ask for more Perfect fit, perfect finish, light and looks great. And to be honest very good value for money. I struggle to think of why if in the market for a high end stem you'd buy anything else. 19 May 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by This is THE STEM !! Essential style for incredible performances. Very very stiff and light. Its sufarce is very resistant and durable. It is the only real stem for me. 30 August 2009
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great stem, which I am using for XC racing, lighter and better looking than the X4 and ideal for XC but not downhill. 05 May 2009
