Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sturdy and easy to install I bought this with the Topeak trunk bag to avoid having to wear a backpack when cycling to work. Fitted easily to the seatpost of my road bike and the trunk bag slides easily and securely into position. Having the weight just behind and below the saddle feels a bit strange at first, but you soon get used to it. It feels particularly strange if you try to sprint - the weight makes the bike harder to throw from side to side - but who sprints in their commute anyway? When first installed the clamp and the quick release lever both touched my thighs while pedalling - I rotated it slightly and now only the bracket touches very slightly. The quick release means the rack is less secure while parked, but this could easily be replaced with a standard bolt if additional security is required, or a cable lock can be threaded through the rack. 31 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by great bit of kit Well designed & engineered. Was sceptical about how sturdy it would be compared to a conventional rack, but it appears to be very solid. Already use a Topeak MTX bag on my commuting bike & bought this for weekends away on road bike. No regrets. 16 August 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great rack Bought it 4 months ago for my MTB bike i use for daily commute. It's sturdy, does what it should do, carries my backpack (cca 8kg) with ease. I ditched provided bungee cord and use normal one with hooks from auto parts shop. And to prevent it being pinched while awaiting me in front of my workplace i added a hose clip through QR. 23 May 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by perfect for light touring i bought this to go on a race bike (8kg) to tour down the coast of france. i loaded it up with all my stuff (tent, sleeping bag, mat, clothes) and it worked perfectly. it didn't swing side to side and the quick release made it so easy. because it tilts up a bit i could also stap things underneath it using the rubber bungees. if you set it up well and load it nice and tightly you cant go wrong with this for light weight touring. my friend who toured with me bought a cheaper version which was heavier and would end up at 90 degree angles to the wheels, nothing is more annoying that wobbly rack dont skimp! 27 November 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by High position of the luggage The only problem about this rack is the high position of the luggage: sometimes it is difficult to mount on the bicycle (you have to rise your leg very high to pass it to the other side of the bike...) and if the luggage was lower stability should increase. Bought it because at that time there were no other racks for disk brake bycicles; if it was today, perhaps I would choose the dx rack. 26 November 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by Ok, but can move about. It ain't bad, but the bolt did snap after about 6 months of light wear. (Replaced with new one). Also no mattter how secure I attach to the seatpost it has a tendency to move ! (It's almost a great product but just not quite there for the money) 24 September 2010
Rated 4 out of 5 by Well made but needs work I recently bought this rack to use on my ride to work bike. A Claude Bulter Milano, I purchased it along with the DXP bag and the double rack arms.It all works really well together. However, I don't know if its the fact its on a road bike, the position of my saddle or the size of my hamstrings ( I wish ), but the quick release rubs on the back of my hamstring. If I can find a bolt with a fairly flush head / screw head the problem will be solved. 21 June 2010
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disapointing Perfectly fine for 14 months; I used it for my daily commute and the odd youth hostel trip, keeping baggage well inside the weight limit. It has broken in two; just below the first weld, Immediately below the quick release clamp. Sorry but 14 months use is not good enough. 21 April 2010

Answer:
Topeak are not very clear on their frame size definitions, but a small frame would generally be no larger than 42 or 43cm (16/17"). These V-Type racks are for 'Standard and Large' frames, so will be fine on your 50cm frame.
