Love the look of this guard, looks the biz fitted. Unfortunately the bracket that holds it in place on the forks is REALLY brittle and as such one mishap will have you needing a new guard. I've had 2 now and I won't be buying a 3rd.

Rated 3 out of 5 by RandomDan Broken my second one...
Both times were squeezing the bike through or over bridle path gates, snapping the rear part off the bracket that supports the back section.
I could have probably avoided breaking the brittle bracket, but none of the other parts of the bike need such careful handling.
With MTB parts, my philosophy is "if it breaks get something better/heavier". If I could buy a cast iron version of the fork bracket I'd snap it up.

В целом хороший брызговик, только крепление ненадежное: при снятии сломался пластмассовый шестигранник. Посадил старый якорь снизу штока вилки - теперь всё отлично.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Fordman Great Design but Pathetic Engineering
I have had two of these. I love the design, easy to fit, they look good, they are simple to remove from the central bracket if you put your bike in the back of a car. If it was more durable I would rate it 5 stars, but like other reviewers here I have found the plastic bracket is just too weak. It doesn't even need a significant blow, bumps on the trail can make it snap. Come on Topeak, you can do better than this!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Anonymous Plastic v Metal
I've had mine just over a year. Really like the look. Great idea to take the front & rear off leaving the fixing spigot in the fork tube. But the two part plastic fixing that expands to fill & fix into the hole expands by using an Allen key bolt. Mine kept on loosening & falling onto the front wheel while riding. Successive tightening has damaged the plastic until its no longer usable. If they made metal on metal fixings no damage would occur & a tighter fix would help the guard stay into the frame.
I've had a similar problem with the rear guard of this model.

I have bought two of these and although they look good and fit well they are not robust. The first one snapped within 2 days the front part of the guard caught on another bike handle as mine was being put in cramped bike rack and the rear part broke off when the bike slipped in icy conditions. Bought a second one thinking maybe the cold weather had made it especially brittle and it snapped the second day I had it on the bike, again getting caught on another bike in the station bike racks. All in all very disappointed with this product which is designed for a mountain bike so I assumed it would be far more rugged that it is.

Works well as a mud guard when it's there but as with many other reviewers, a second bracket has now broken at the front and I lost the forward blade. It would be so simple to make the bracket more robust on what is otherwise a great product. Five stars if you treat it as disposable, just 2 stars otherwise.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous poor bracket
hi there, like other owners, I can confirm how good the mudguard is at deflecting muck and dirt; and also confirm how poor the bracket is. Mine broke on the first day getting the bike in and out of thr car! However a quick phone-call to Topeak uk distributers and ...problem solved, new bracket in the post.
yup it shoudnt have happened, but they did resolve the problem very quickly.
hope this helps
