Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous Very good quality rack
I not sure how it compare to the famous Tubus as I never use one before and I not planning to as a Tubus costs 2-3 times of this Topeak Super Tourist rack. I only do pavement road touring, this rack is more than adequate. Loaded with two Ortlieb roller classic, one Topeak MTX Trunk DryBag, it's rock solid. The lower bar allows side panniers to be mounted lower, increasing the bike stability. I have done hundreds of kilometers of touring with it and it still looks as new.
The top design allows MTX trunkbag to slide in and out easily. Even if you are not using Topeak MTX trunkbag the flat top makes it easy to strap any trunkbag on it.
My advice, try this before you throw lots of cash on Tubus.

I bought this rack planely on the reviews and its lived up to its expectations extremly sturdy. I have sat on it whilst riding ( im about 10 stone )and it dident do anything, Although it take a while to put up its worth the messing around. i have now got a new bike with disk brakes and am buying the disk brake version because of how impressed i am with this rack full 5 stars

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous Weighs nothing. This non-disk rack can be fitted to a disc rear frame but only with fittings not in the pack so buy carefully. The screws supplied do rust, however, which is a bit disappointing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous Over all ok, but...
A perfect rack. I've had it on my commuter for a year now. I've ridden through rain, snow, ice and salty water (due to snow cleaning). The bike has been standing outside under a roof. So, what has happened?
The mounting screws has got some surface corrosion on them (2 quid for all at a local hardware store).
The paint is bit pale due to sun-bleach.
Otherwise, the rack has coped with all what I've thrown at it. It is a very steady rack and I'd recon it would take also bit over the recommended maximum load of 25kgs.
There is only one thing missing (which is annoying and makes one carry a luggage strap the whole time): A SPRING! Why on earth did I buy this over the spring version? Maybe cause the spring version isn't/wasn't on sale in Sweden by this time. So, if you want a darn good rack, get this one. If you want a superb rack, get the Topeak Super Tourist DX Rack - Spring! Yes, the spring version is 2quid more, but I'm more than sure it is worth it (got one going on now for replacement and ditching of the luggage strap).

I'm a huge fan - pretty much everyone in my cycle touring group of friends has this rack. Strong, adjustable, and the extra bar makes a big difference for large loads - particularly panniers + MTX rack bag.
I did see one of these fall apart recently on a friend's bike. That was after 5000km of third-world country touring with extremely heavy panniers, and after maybe 5 years and thousands of km of commuting and touring locally.

I have this rack on my Cannodale Bad Boy and a Blackburn on my Orange (rebuild) tourer. I will also get the Topeak for the tourer too. By far the best alu rack you will find for the price, excellant quality. Also able to mount rear light onto rack which you cannot do with the Blackburn.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous Perfect Rack, especially when twinned with a Trunk Bag
I bought this 2 weeks ago.
At first I bought just a cheap rack and bungeed my rucksack to it. After a while I became fed up with tucking straps in and decided to purchase a MTX EXP Trunk bag and MTX Super Tourist rack from somewhere that happened to do buy one, get one half price on luggage at when I bought it.
I was not dissapointed. The Topeak rack is much better than cheap sprung options, having a seperate panier rail from the top deck so you can more easily use paniers and the rack without them interfering with each other.
The Trunk bag MTX EXP was suprisingly heavy when empty, but very solid due to the hard plasic base. Storage inside it is a bit of a let down - no zippered pockets, just 2 open ones for wallets, phones etc. The useable space is enough for a 670ml foodsaver, a rolled up office shirt, some fruit and a micro towl - which ends up being a bit tight, but doable. But of course, it has the fold down paniers - I rarely use them but it's great that they're there for when I need them - I don't have to plan to go to the shops anymore, they're their ready to be used anytime. For reference though, a 13" MacBook in a padded pouch does not fit into the paniers - you can't quite close the zip all the way due to the sloping top. But you can get a football kit and shoes in one side easily.
And of course, put the two together, slide and click! Quick release bag. So very easy and so so quick.
