Good pads have saved me a few times but I have to tighten the straps so tight they feel uncomfortable, even at that they tend to slip when I hit rock gardens or ruff ground. Basically they don't fit right for me.

My tbones are fantastic. I own a set of shock dr knee/shin guards and they just don't meet the grade of the tbones. Although some may have to get used to the posture they are designed for, I would say these knee pads give excellent padding coverage and comfort without moving around at all.
The bulky look is a perfect trade off against the protection they offer and they are an essential alongside gloves and helmet for all skill sets on the mountains/hills.
One point that may help you keep them in good nick is to wash them regularly and make sure the Velcro is fully stuck together before hand, mine are still like brand new and they have been bathed on mud several times. Top notch kit.

A rare poor showing from TLD. Uncomfortable from the very beginning and I'd hoped that they would start to 'mould' to the shape of my leg. Sadly, this never happened even after wearing the damn things around the house to try to break them in.
I could not get them to stay in place for love nor money. Great if you're looking for shin guards.
The final straw was seeing approx. 50mm of stitching coming apart exposing the main foam knee pad.
Not a TLD basher by any means but I am going to try to get my money back for these. Due to a leg injury back in Feb (13) these pads have only seen use on a handful of days and (surprisingly) no crashes.

overall not very happy with the purchase of these knee pads..
first off make sure of the sizing.. got an xl referring to the chart, After 10 minutes into the run pads slip down. also ive noticed the stitching on the pads is beginning to ravel and a tear is after appearing just below the top strap of the pads, and thats after 2 months of moderate riding.
decent protection but ill be changing to a set of 661 pads shortly!

will be out of action for a week or two but i was glad I was wearing the knee gaurds. Very good and I did forget I had them on, the knock to the head might have somthing to do with it. Well worth the money.

Bought these to replace my ageing 661's, read about the size thing and ordered the xl with a view to possibly returning them if too big. They fitted fine on my leg without needing to tighten the velcro straps at all, i'm 5'9" and about 85kg normal leg size . maybe a bit longer than my 661's cos they're xl but don't care as you do not notice them when you ride, not sweaty and do not rub (unlike my 661's). They also wash really well in the machine and have taken a battering and still look like new!!!!!

Fit is tight and supportive, they hardly move and provide great protection. My on gripe it the straps could be held in place better and mine have started to rub.

Muts admit that I was sceptical about any pads that you could pedal well in. These more than hit the mark. Very very comfortable. Watch out for the sizing though, I needed a large but have certainly not got large legs!! I'm sure anything smaller would be considered youth/junior by any other manufacturer.
