How does it fit

Can this be put in the top tube of a road bike whilst using existing brake and gear cables???

Answer: 
No, the 'Vision Carbon Pro Integrated Sloping Bar' is a complete Bar and Stem Combo so you would need to remove your old stem, Etc to use.

If you are to keep your Original Bars and Stem you will need to have a look at the likes of the 'Vision TT Clip On Bars' (linked below).

A review on another (older) set suggested it would only take Campag gear with an unusual brake set-up (the levers fit on the outside of the tube?)

Using Shimano shifters is not a problem; however Vision specific brakes are the only option with these bars.
